Bio

The band Loryzine was created by several young friends that met during the "kabar" more than 10 years ago. They wanted to devote themselves to their passion: The Maloya.

After a few performances, the members decided to have a break to spend more time studying music and their instruments. In 2008, after their studies, they had acquired more music background and developed enough skills to reform the band.

Several new members are young adults. They have brought more urban, dynamic rhythms and sounds to the music proposed by Loryzine. Nevertheless the band keeps the different influences of the Maloya: music from Africa, Madagascar and Latin America.

This "Kaloubadia" (or mix) is led by Robert Luciano. The band performs regularly on different stages in La Reunion, even being chosen to perform during a huge event celebrating the inscription of the Maloya on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the UNESCO in 2009.

The band is still evolving, trying to incorporate new sounds from around the world.

Loryzine was awarded Revelation 2012 in the Young Artists category of the Prize Theatre Reunion.

6 band members, 12 instruments: hit-hat, sati, bobre, snare, timbales, rouler, congas, djembe, kayamb, harmonica, piker, and cymbal-crash.
