"Overwhelming originality"

The most innovative musical aspect of Mexico might be this group of seven childhood friends called Los Musicos de Jose. His second album, Chicotito Groove, fused rock, acid jazz and funk, and leave no room for words. "A lot of narrative in the music by itself, it becomes a kind of story," says the band's guitarist, David Lopez Boyer. Also Paul Spalla bassist, drummer Miguel Haller, saxophonist and keyboardist Aldo Max, saxophonist Michel Acosta, and percussionist Gerardo Balandrano and trumpeter Angel Leal.

This was demonstrated in his recent presentation in the US, in a legendary New York club within the festival Celebrate Mexico Now. The diverse audience responded with passion while wondering Requiem was Joseph. "He's a friend Comin" says Haller, 29. "The coolest is that we are in a good moment of friendship and musical understanding." That no doubt. - People en Español

"Within the best 10 Latin CD's"

Super acid jazz and funk. Jams invoking surround sound; jazz takes another course in each of his songs to add tints of rock and Latin groove. His musical lines go forth to enjoy the talent of this Mexican band. - Rolling Stone

"One of the best indie bands of jazz in this country"

Chicotito Groove is the name of the latest album of Los Musicos de Jose, that is now in stores. When asked "What is that Los Musicos de Jose", we say that under that illustrious name is one of the best indie bands of jazz in this country, independent nature. This, their second production is a must for fans of the genre and for those who want to refresh their ears with a completely new sound ... New album. What a beautiful word. - Psychologies

"Highly recommended expirience"

Chicotito Groove is the second album of this band from Mexico City and the great excuse to go on stage again. We had the opportunity to see them live recently and we found a great acid jazz and funk concert. In conciert or cd, Los Musicos de Jose are a highly recommended experience by Esquire. - Esquire

Bio

Los Músicos de José (meaning literally ‘José’s Musicians’) are a Mexico City band that creates powerful funk-like instrumental music aimed at your feet, your guts and both of your brain’s hemispheres—a music imbued with emotion and pleasure, ideal both for dancing and attentive listening.

The founding members have shared the enjoyment of groove and original music that breaks the mould since 1996. So far they have recorded four studio albums and a remix double. They are Aldo Max Rodriguez on Keyboards and alto saxophone, David Lopez Boyer on guitar and Paul Spalla on Bass. Also collaborating with Paquito Gomez (tenor saxo), Angel Leal (trumpet), Gerardo Balandrano (Drums) and MC Charlot (vocals) as special guest.

Their music has led them to perform in international jazz, rock and world music festivals as well as Latin parties. Their musical quality has earned them the respect of Mexico’s cultural milieu as much as that of specialized musicians and critics. They have shared stage with bands like Tower of Power, Los Amigos Invisibles, Sargento García, Groove Collective, Steel Pulse, Easy Star All-Stars, Jarabe de Palo, among many others.

Now they are promoting their fourth studio album that is a tribute to Damaso Perez Prado, released on March 18, 2016.
