Los Punks Del Norte Releases Debut Album
The riveting local band from Modesto, California is set to release their groove packed debut album, a move which will thrill their army of fans.
Mexican Candy -
The album, ‘Mexican Candy’, consists of thirteen original songs, each providing a combination of high-energy guitar playing, hard hitting vocals and mad low end licks. The rhythmic undercurrent bears testament to the classics, and the music is punctuated throughout with elements of rockabilly, reggae, jazz, rock and melodic soul.
The theme of the album underlies the eclectic textured sounds of the great artists that revolutionized their times all while materializing the bands own unique groove method. ‘Mexican Candy’ reveals the stunning array of diversity that has found its way into Los Punks music as well as the changes that the band members have experienced in their own lives.
Los Punks do not shy away from including social references in their music either, reflecting one of their other long-term interests, social injustice. This can be deduced from the verses in “Quemados Del Sol” and samples of their songs, which include sound bites and excerpts from news broadcasts relating to the struggle of immigrants.

Introducing Los punks, a quintet founded within the lush farmland and graffiti art laden area that surrounds Modesto, CA. These five musicians combine a history of art, soul and a whole lotta punk. The hard hitting vocals provided by Miguel Jimenez combined with the musical sty lings of guitarist Mario Ramos, Bassist Javier Bixop Jauregui, drummer Jorge Ramos and DJ/Keyboardist TonE Cuvarrubias expel a sound like no other. With their vast influences credited to Latin music, country, old school rock and of course punk, this band will leave you questioning what’s in your playlist.
I sat down to get a glimpse of what these guys have been through, and this is how the story goes:
After breaking into the scene with their first full-length album “Mexican Candy” (available on itunes) Los Punks have traveled up and down the state expelling their sound and getting noticed. Now, just a year since the first album, they are working on their sophomore album, in the true Los Punks style it promises to combine their signature style along with hard hitting no holds barred musical composition and riveting lyrics. They are not stopping there, they have even broken into the video world. Filming the albums first video to the powerful energy laden nonstop single: 5 Finger Munchies (available on YouTube). The video is a visual representation of the deeply rooted art that has influenced this band’s sound and eclectic vibe all while delivering the energy that has made them a standout in the music world.
