"LOS SILENCIOS IN TV (TELEVISIÓN ESPAÑOLA)"

Carlos Castilla, a well known Canarian presenter that has also worked in important Spanish national programs said:

"The band you are going to listen to right now is quality enough and has plenty of style and I´m sure they will be soon airplayed nationally".

At the end of the show he said:

"A spectacular song! If it had been written by Brand New Heavies or Incógnito it would be famous worldwide. I don´t know if "jumping" outside the Canary Islands is an added difficulty, but I have no doubt that Los Silencios are quality enough to be playing in any country and at any disco, making dance floors be crowded!".

IF YOU WISH TO KNOW SOME MORE ABOUT LOS SILENCIOS´BIOGRAPHY, PLEASE, KEEP ON READING!

Los Silencios began as a four member Pop-Folk band in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain), in 1996. Miriam Lezcano was the main songwriter of the band. After recording their second demo at that time, they played in some pubs and local events. In summer of 1996, they travelled to France, where they succesfully toured around the region of L´Ariège -during a month- and appeared in the front page of the local press Le Journal de l´Ariège.

In 1997 the band´s style developped into Pop-Rock, due to the inclusion of three new members: a bassist, a drummer and a new guitarrist who would afterwords be one of the main members and songwriters, together with Miriam, until nowadays: Toni Estévez.

After recording a third demo, the new Silencios kept on playing at local parties, hired by the cultural area of several town halls and participated in national contests, winning some of them. As a result of it, the local press started talking about the band and a very important national radio program (La Gramola-M80- Cadena Ser) airplayed one of their songs.

It was in 1998 when the band decided to travel to Madrid, where they gigged several times during a month and were interviewed in Radio Nacional.

During the same month of october, they were called by the organization of a Canarian Festival, where Los Silencios could share stage with Undrop (Pepsi´s band at that moment), La Oreja de Vahn Gogh (Famous Pop Spanish band) and Navajita Plateá (Famous Flamenco-Pop Spanish band).

During 1999 and 2000, when Los Silencios had already achieved some recognition in the islands, they planned to spend a longer period in Madrid and added some charity events to their calendar. One of these events, gathered funds in favour of Central America in collaboration with Red Cross and some other NGOs.

However, during that time, the band members lives took different ways. Miriam and Toni finished their studies at the University (Translation -Miriam- and Engineering -Toni) as well as their musical studies (Título profesional de música at the Conservatory-Miriam- and modern harmony and guitar classes -Toni).

At the same time, they started participating in multicultural events and making music for artistic video presentations and inaugurations in Gran Canaria (Mapfre Foundation, Science and Technology Institute, Commercial Circle).

Their musical experiences and studies and the discovery of new technologies in music permitted them to become arrangers of their own music. Both of them started writing songs together and working on a new repertory and a new demo while they planned a long period in Madrid.

In 2002, Los Silencios travelled to Madrid and started playing with the collaboration of two new musicians: Fernando López (bassist, from Madrid) and Javier Pásara (Drummer, from Peru, who was living in Madrid).

Almost immediately, Toni was chosen by a well known theatre company to write the electronic music for one of their performances Voluminaires- Futuristik Freaks. Consequently, the four music
