Lottie and the Manatee

BandFolkSoul

Fronted by soulful female vocalist Lottie Prenevost, Lottie and the Manatee took their initial downtempo folk roots identity, fused it with hints of Motown, classical and jazz stylistic influences and created a sound which is truly their own. The combination of sometimes earthy, sometimes soaring vocal harmonies, complemented by the accompanying ethereal soundscape from the rest of "the Manatee," creates a relaxing, nostalgic, and introspective experience for the listener.

Biography

Fronted by soulful female vocalist Lottie Prenevost, Lottie and the Manatee took their initial downtempo folk roots identity, fused it with hints of Motown, classical and jazz stylistic influences and created a sound which is truly their own. The combination of sometimes earthy, sometimes soaring vocal harmonies, complemented by the accompanying ethereal soundscape from the rest of "the Manatee," creates a relaxing, nostalgic, and introspective experience for the listener.

Founded in January 2012 by keyboardist Peter van Reesema, the initial collaboration between Lottie and Peter ached for something more. A fuller and more cohesive sound was established with the addition of cellist, James Alexander; guitarist, Corey Critchfield; and drummer, Michael Koss. The final icing on the cake came from the most recent addition to the band, vocalist Kaci Friss. Having had years of previous experience performing together outside of "the Manatee" the chemistry within the group was instant. The results are yours to enjoy!

Lottie and the Manatee recently released their debut EP In the Morning, in December of 2012. Following the release of the EP, the band will begin touring the United States in May of 2013.

Lyrics

In the Morning

Written By: Peter van Reesema

I wake up in the morning in my clothes from the night before
I try to find my balance as I pick myself off the floor
slip my shoes on my feet as I walk out the door
To see what everybody's been lookin' for

Chorus:
Cause all I wanna do is not be waiting for something more
All I wanna o is find someone I can't ignore

One day I'll wake up with open eyes
When I'm no longer in a rush for time
I know I'll be fine
When I learn to calm this restless heart of mine

Chorus.

All I wanna do...

Is wake up in the morning and not be alone any more
