Lotus Blake started in the mind of Matthew Wallace, an artist studying at the University of Louisville. He believes each song should be an original piece of art, with this in mind he has created pieces that range from nearly every type of genre, including rock, jazz, funk, pop, rockabilly, and metal. Some are very harmonically involved while others are very rhythmically complex, and yet he manages to keep all these sounds sealed with a style all his own.
Matthew auditioned several people when forming Lotus Blake, but there were few who could follow his lead and meet the challenges. Those who stepped up are the members assembled now.
Jeff Thomas is currently studying Jazz Guitar at the University of Louisville. Jeff's jazzy/bluesy background gives him the knowledge and technique needed to approach Matthew's tunes.
TK Turbo has had a long history with music, he grew up in the home of classical musicians. His mother placed him on a Cello at a very young age and from there he grew. In his teens he discovered rock and roll, but more importantly he discovered Zappa. TK's mind grew to Zappa's complex and fascinating melodies and phrasings. He soon found the Bass Guitar and with this he was able to translate both his Classical Cello background and his Zappa mind set to The Blake.
Steve Eastman, the newest and final member of the band(replacing of drummer on the recordings), also comes from a long musical background. Born and raised in Mississippi, Steve started playing at a young age. Once in College at Mississippi State University Steve became captain of the drum line as well as playing in symphonic, jazz and pep/basketball bands.
Lotus Blake now has its ultimate line-up, and there is not a single weak link. Each member brings their own unique backgrounds, styles, and talents to give, finding commonality in the same love and respect for art and music that is the true core of Lotus Blake.
