"A place to let your hair down"

This is from a review on a well known music venue in Dublin city - Whelans.

...Music:
If new music is more your thing, then Whelans also doubles up as a music venue. If you'd peaked through the large wooden doors at the back 10 years ago, you would have sampled the delights of David Gray or The Corrs, at the start of their careers.

Likewise, these days you can check out the dulcet tones of Damien Rice or catch the ULTRA NEW and UBER TRENDY LOTUSLAND BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE IS HUMMING THEIR CONTAGIOUS MELODIES

"Lotusland win Band Competition"

Original Texts unavailable.
Reviews on Lotusland after winning a tough competition in Whelans (infamous Dublin music venue). Sharon and former guitarist took on the rest of the competitors who were playing full electric sets. Lotusland playing acoustically won by a unanimous decision. This then took them to the stage of Dublin’s Ambassador where they played in the final line up for the National 02 Band Competition. - Northside People/Southside People/Roscommon Herald

Bio

Female fronted Lotusland, based in Dublin, have caused quite a stir on the live circuit. Currently recording an album due out later this year, they mix the sunny upbeat sounds of Fleetwood Mac with a darker Cardigans edge. Appealing to fans from those who love story driven songs to those who just like a catchy melody and with comparisons from Blondie to Heather Nova, Lotusland seem to interest everyone.

What sets Sharon Reid apart as a talent, is the freedom she brings to a song and her vocal ability which is without boundaries or limits, owning the song's emotion and taking the listener on a journey through her skilfully crafted ability of simply telling the story within the song.

Guitarist, Igor Biasini hailing from Milan, Italy comes with many influences from pop, rock and has a penchant for Jazz.

Guitarist, George Rice brings with him a touch of suave, and looks as comfortable playing guitar on stage as he would when he's at home. Not to mention the sophisticated sex appeal that comes with being a trained professional!!

Gillian Sayers - the girl can play drums! A joy to watch on stage, Gill is full of passion and animation. It has been said that she has a touch of the Mick Fleetwood's about her.
After many gigs, audience members from the “girl next door” to the punk with the Mohawk have gone out of their way to come up to band members and tell them how much they enjoyed the set.

Lotusland love festivals. After playing a couple of festivals in Scandinavia to some crazy audiences, they have caught that summer bug! So the next one is Castlepalooza, in the Irish midlands on 5th August, playing alongside the well-established Irish act Republic of Loose.

From Scandinavia to mainland Europe, Lotusland manage to identify with their audiences and captivate the most diverse of musical tastes.

Lotusland have remained a strong and determined force in the music scene for some time now and relish the challenge of delivering their music to an appreciative audience who seek out original, non-manufactured music and songs. This is their promise to anyone who listens.
