"LOUDS Release Dynamic New Track"

"'Ways' by LOUDS is [...] upbeat and dynamic, and thrives on the premise that a single listen is a full emotional progression. What greets you along with enticing, poppy electronica synth is gushy sentimental grief that resonates through the entire track. LOUDS somehow blend these happy tones with a homesick yearning for love, and the result is both emotionally evocative and wistful." - The Wild Honey Pie

"10 Philly Bands You Should Already Be Listening To"

No. 4 - Philadelphia Sun Times

"Daily Discovery: LOUDS"

LOUDS’ “Ways” is structured like a time-tested rock/pop song, but the production makes it feel like classic rock filtered through an early ’90s video game. With all of its glitchy layering and peppy handclaps, you might initially think this is a fun song, but the melody indicates otherwise. - Pigeons and Planes

"Philadelphia Outfit LOUDS Seem Like a Hell of a Lot of Fun"

"Philadelphia outfit LOUDS seem like a hell of a lot of fun [...] they appear to be people who would be the life and soul of any party. That in itself is a pretty fitting description of their music; upbeat yet laid-back" - Crack in the Road

"LOUDS Debut EP"

Ok - for a lot of you, the first half of your workday is over. But how can you make it through the rest to get to this weekend? We'd like to help you past the time with the infectious, upbeat debut EP, If More People Bought Art More People Would Buy Art, from electro-popsters LOUDS. The record officially comes out on Thursday, June 4, coinciding with the band's release show at Boot & Saddle. Hope that it helps! BTW: You can also just walk out of work right now. We give you permission. - The Deli

"Listen to LOUDS Debut EP"

"Philly electropop band LOUDS are releasing their debut EP, If More People Bought Art More People Would Buy Art, next Thursday, but you can stream it via Soundcloud starting today! The record is sunshiny and upbeat, though the songs’ lyrics deal with the less savory matter of navigating complicated relationships. “Takes Two” addresses “bad communication [as] any relationship’s deathblow, and that it always takes two people contributing for it to work,” though you would never guess it with the lighthearted whistling and uptempo instrumentals." - WXPN The Key

"LOUDS: 'Ways'"

"Philly’s LOUDS have a thing for sun drenched pop hooks and playful chiptune sounds that all conclude to the Summer pop anthem Ways. The psych pop blurry look fools you while an electronic pop steamroller with uplifting synths and danceable cheerful vibes are already here to conquer the top spot on your Summer playlist!" - Sound Injections

"LOUDS: 'Takes Two'"

Philly based act LOUDS got us on an upbeat and sun roaring mood with their debut song Ways almost nine months ago! Now a second song is here, the playful pop cycle of Takes Two! With the dance pop maelstrom forcing a melting guitar disappearing under the heat and cheerful synths joining the beat so to give an extra irresistible groove, Takes Two is the absolute indie pop anthem for this summer! - Sound Injections

Bio

Louds Island is a small island off the coast of Maine about which very little is known. It may be about three miles long, and perhaps a mile wide at its widest point. It may or may not currently have a population of zero. In 1860, the residents of Louds may have seceded from both the nearby town of Bristol, and from the United States, but according to island historian and archivist Lorraine Morong, “Much of the island’s past escapades may not be true. Or maybe they are.” It is possible that no one really noticed that the islanders of Louds seceded. But if they did secede, and if people noticed, and army recruiters sought out new draftees for the Civil War from Louds, “the islanders (may have) prevented them from landing, brandishing firearms and pitching vegetables at them.”

LOUDS the band from Philadelphia is in many ways much like Louds Island in Maine, an island that brothers (and founding members of LOUDS) Charlie and Petie Brooks may have had the good fortune to visit regularly from their house in Bristol only three miles away, and where they may have sailed and capsized boats, camped, and built their first fires. Protected and thus left to their own devices by what could only be considered the general negligence of the world around them, both the island and the band operate freely (the illusion of freedom is often as powerful as legitimate sovereignty) and refuse to take cues from established powers that be. Hence the originality of LOUDS’ music. And though the band has enjoyed its period of hibernation, and though it may secede again in the future from the stifling confines of the music industry to allow the seeds of creativity to grow once more, the members of LOUDS are delighted, for the time-being, to release their first four-song EP, If More People Bought Art More People Would Buy Art, here in Philadelphia on June 4th, 2015.
