Bio
Louise Dawson has been studying and singing jazz for over a decade. She grew up surrounded by music. Born into a family where singing was next to breathing Louise’s musical experiences centered around the church. Her formal education began over ten years ago at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Alberta in the Music Program where she majored in Jazz Studies. Upon completion of her studies in Edmonton she traveled to Montreal to attend McGill University and study Jazz Performance.
With a voice that moves easily from R and B and jazz to classical repertoire Louise has the ability to communicate to her audience with a clear tone in a voice that alternately melts over you and just as easily pulls your heart out of your chest. At one moment she conveys complete innocence and in the next expresses a coy flirtatiousness with just a nod of her head and a quick glimmer in her eye.
Over the years she has performed with a variety of jazz artists at a number of venues in Edmonton, Alberta including the Yardbird Suite, Sidetrack Café and Reds. She is currently working on her first CD and studying music education at the University of Alberta.
