Biography

Louise Kelly is a keyboardist and vocalist with 15 years’ experience. A classically trained pianist from childhood, she studied jazz piano at Northern Illinois University and North Central College. Louise, a seasoned performer, has played professionally for a wide variety of occasions: solo concerts, wedding ceremonies, receptions, church worship, clubs, and community events.

From performing to music education, Louise has developed many skills musically and is dynamic in both leadership roles: church bands, cover-bands, and original projects; and supportive roles: accompanist and back-up singer. Additionally, during her time in L.A., Louise recorded in studio, worked as a private piano teacher and as an elementary school music teacher.

Currently, Louise is writing and performing her original songs in solo performance and with the Louise Kelly Band. She performs locally with her Jazz Trio (piano, bass and drums) for private parties, receptions, wine-tastings, and other events. On any given weekend one might find her providing piano and vocal music for weddings, both for ceremonies and for receptions. Louise lives in a suburb of Chicago where she is raising her two daughters, Bella and Noelle.

lonely in love

Lonely In Love
By Louise Kelly

Feels like tickling when the cellaphone brings
A message from you, where you at?
Feels like tickling when you say those things
For shame you’d think of me like that!
Feels like tickling there’s a glistening of mischief in your eyes
Don’t look at me like that!

Chorus
You could love me into a thousand pieces!
If I never make it home again,
Would you remind me how it’s gonna end?
Lonely in love.

Feels so fine til my mind and math of my heart
Don’t agree on the numbers cause they’re so far apart.
Feels like a tease to taste the breeze of you running free
I could never be, oh I could never be.

Chorus

Bridge:
You could so easily walk away I could uneasily stay like this
You could so easily not look back to see if I’m pretending I’m ok like this
You could so easily walk away I think that’s your claim to fame round here
I am a woman a girl grown up, you are a young man who’s just hard up
To make me…

Lonely in love. Lonely in love.

turn away

Turn Away
Words and Music by Louise Kelly

Chorus
Turn Away, Turn away
Don’t look back, things are gonna change
If you turn away.

Verse 1
Yours are not the only feet pointed wrong
Yours is not the only strength not so strong

Chorus

Verse 2
You can put your car in reverse and just drive off
Don’t look back; don’t look back, just turn...

Chorus

Bridge
Pray for strength, pray for faith
Pray your will will be changed
You will turn away!

Chorus

when you're there

Written By: Louise Kelly

I don’t even know myself when you’re there
I’ve got to find the strength to care
Scrounge up some dignity remembering our history
But then I see your face

Me and my friends we know the art
Of how to talk some sense into an unrequited heart
I swore I’d never be the one on the floor
And I’ll never say never anymore

(Chorus 1)
Cave paintings and silent movies
I hear them on the subways all the time
And they speak from my mind
I don’t even know myself when you’re there

You could use that same old line
It was fine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd time,
What you deserve is a piece of my mind
But I can’t serve you what I can’t find, no no

(Chorus 2)
Two steps back with every step I take across the crowded floor
You’re swimmin’ with the fish in the sea
And fish are biting, yeah you know what I mean
I used to a very nice girl, used to be.
(or: “deeper waters, yeah I used to be”)

(Chorus 1)

(Bridge)
When you’re there, when you’re there
There must be some better way to go about this
I’m remiss, every since we kissed
I don’t even know myself when you’re there.

what a night, no stars

Written By: Louise Kelly

What a night, no stars
But your eyes shining bright
In the moonlight

I can touch it all
The beauty of your body
Next to mine and night sky
And some moonshine

But I can’t touch the thought
I would crumble on the spot
If things aren’t what they’ve been

Earth move slow
Don’t bring tomorrow to my pillow
Keep the night skies in your eyes
And a moonrise

Everybody’s sleeping
My heart’s in your keeping
And it goes on and one
Don’t mess with that don’t give it back

What a night, no stars
But your eyes shining bright
In the moonlight

10 trips round the sun with you
I promised you more you promised me, too
Don’t go back

satellite

Written By: Louise Kelly

sometimes I feel like a satellite, lost in the dark
turnin circles round those places and faces,
takin photographs.
sometimes I feel like a satellite, higher than a kite might fly
in the night sky, you never look out your window
and pose, you know you're still in my sights

chorus
steel beams and spinnin things
capturing the moments I'd love best
cold the feel floating steel far away

tiny bubbles with their spacesuits on
they're my next of kin, and they laugh as they spin
off through the distant stars.
fall and winter spring and summersaults
and you laugh as you spin through the seasons again
with the one you love.

bridge
in my dark room
there's a red light on
from the exit sign
you set me off like a satellite

verse
takin a shot in the dark
i have taken your picture in the park and you're golden in the sun
with the one you love (love, love, love)
you never look out the window and pose
you know you're still in my sights

taillights

Written By: Louise Kelly

If you took attendance, when you kissed me
Would you know if I were present?
Last year in the snow
I duck, you throw
You really wanted to know me

Hand at ten and two and the engine cuts through the quiet
I wish you’d check your rearview
You wave and you beep
You drive home and you sleep
And I’m seein’ taillights

Standin’ in the street, you drive away
Standin’ in the street, you drive away
Well I know you and you know yourself
And you’re taillights

Standin’ at the sea and smellin’ salts
And I’m lost in a mist and loneliness
The waves recede, they leave on the shore
Things they don’t want anymore

Littered, lettered things
Key-rings and empty shells
You used to want to know me well
Those days have come and gone…

Standin’ in the street, you drive away
Standin’ in the street, you drive away
Well I know you and you know yourself
And you’re taillights

you and you alone

Written By: Louise Kelly

You and You alone.
You and You alone.

Wandering through this world alone,
Not one thing moves my soul for long,
So I move on.
If there was one place I could lay my luggage down and call home
Then its you, and you alone.

You and you alone...

Home to work, work to home, home to bed,
on the weekends to party instead.
I know the earth spins circles round the sun,
maybe I need someone to burn at the center of it all.

You and you alone...

Bridge
I know, that it’s strange,
But I know that it’s real.
All my dreams come crumbling down before you and I don’t care....

You and you alone....

Wandering through this world alone,
Not one thing moves my soul for long,
So I move on.
If there was one place I could lay my luggage down and call home
Then it’s you, and you alone.
