"Louis London Calling"

I am eternally one of those better-late-than-never kids, always relishing that adrenaline rush that comes with leaving important things til the last minute. So you can imagine the proverbial kick I got when I caught Louis London’s photo finish gig after their month-long run at the Upstairs Beresford. (Hint: there were kicks aplenty…).

After having seen the boys play twice this month, I can safely say that Louis London are fast becoming one of my favourite Sydney bands to catch live. Whether it’s their infectious blend of jazz-funk-indie rock, lead singer Ed Saloman’s unwavering melodies or those epileptic strobe lights above the stage, there is something to be said about a band that can completely pack out a dance floor by 9pm on a Saturday. Gigging off the back of their debut EP ‘On Your Lips We Roared’, Louis London delivered an energetic and en-pointe set that got the hips shaking and the drinks flowing. Debuting fresh material alongside EP favourites Hardly Hear You and Weaver kept their final show from slipping into deja vu, and kudos to the band for their palpable enthusiasm, even after spending the past four weeks playing to the same set of swanky booths.

Watching them go out with a bang and coming home with my own (yes, legitimately purchased!) copy of the EP has led me to these final words of sage midnight wisdom – while they may not be curing musical cancer (read: dubstep) or forging a groundbreaking new sound, Louis London deliver a slick live show and have a great set of material on their hands. So squeeze yourself on the bandwagon before they get scooped up for an iTunes ad. Because that’s where all successful indie bands start, right? - Sarah Swift - Vice

"Louis London – Hardly Hear You"

As infectious as hearty laughter, Louis London, bring the blue skies with their lovely indie tune, Hardly Hear You.

An intro of light guitars, and strong vocals give way to a full bodied, anthemic chorus that will firmly plant itself in your brain. You’ll be singing ‘oh my my my my‘ (and other wonderfully frivolous la’s di’s and da’s, and such like) all day long; and you won’t be the least bit pissed off it’s stuck in your head. These Sydney boys are getting some much deserved airplay on FBi Radio; show them some support and grab their EP on iTunes now. - Repeat Button

"INTRODUCING: LOUIS LONDON"

Youthful five-piece Louis London have been spreading like wildfire in Sydney’s inner-city hipster circuit, and with good reason. Their hard work ethic has seen them pack out rooms at The Beresford, The Standard, Oxford Art Factory and World Bar, with their brand of indie rock touching on folk, rhythm and blues and everything in between. These heartfelt yet playful tunes have seen them support Australian heavyweights such as Bag Raiders, Trial Kennedy and Rufus.

Such focus eventually culminated in 2012's brilliant EP On Your Lips We Roared, with a sold-out launch show at Spectrum to boot. Quickly becoming staples in Darlinghurst music venues and the surrounding areas, Louis London have now shared their live experience with some footage of studio performances of singles ‘Hardly Hear You’ and ‘Old L.A.’ This is significantly tamer than their live performance, but still gives you a good idea of their musicianship. If you like what you see, the band will be serving up their tunes alongside some tacos and tequila at El Loco at The House on January 22 and 23, as well as a show at The Beresford on February 23.

You can also stream their EP On Your Lips We Roared via Spotify below. With Australia’s indie scene now well and truly blossoming, it’s not surprising to see Louis London at the frontline of young talent that we have to offer. Look out for this name in 2013!
