Bio

Loungetree are a four piece band who write their own original material with a Mid-West American rock Electro/Acoustic feel, reminiscent of The Eagles and Hootie & The Blowfish. They were formed in early 2007 when the musical partnership of Brett Littleton and Ivan Hickenbotham proved to be very fruitful, combining their shared love of music and influences. After a few weeks of writing material Loungetree began constructing a home built studio in an unused room at Ivan's house, culminating in the production of their debut self-titled EP. Brett and Ivan wanted to reproduce this sound live so needed other musicians with the same passion and drive as they had. In early 2008 this became a reality with the introduction of Nigel Wright and Dave Messenger.

The name Loungetree originated from Brett who used to take his guitar up a hill near where he lived and lounged against a tree on the hill playing it, but while looking at artwork for an album they were going to release, Ivan found some photos of people living up trees to stop bulldozers coming in and taking them out, hence the name Loungetree as the people were literally living up trees.

Loungetree hail from the Black Country, an area which has been producing quality rock music and musicians since the beginning of the genre including Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, Roy Wood, Wizzard, Electric Light Orchestra, Robert Plant, Noddy Holder and Slade. They originate from the same pot of influences and since their formation Loungetree have been putting down solid roots. With their blend of rock, blues and grunge combined with intelligent lyrics, they have been entertaining audiences at festivals and venues across the region. Their members have been involved in the music industry for many years; Brett played as a session bassist for Ozzy Osbourne and Roy Wood in his early years as a musician.

2008 saw Loungetree play at the Lichfield Fuse Festival in Beacon Park followed by the Wizzafest 2008 festival near Banbury. The Lichfield Arts Council invited them to perform at the launch of their Olympiad Cultural Weekend in September and their Fuse Festival 2009 fundraiser at the Lichfield Guildhall on 29th November.

2009 has so far seen Loungetree upping the ante and being in constant demand to play at numerous pubs, clubs and festivals.

They have also recorded their first full length album 'Seasons' which was released in September 2009. Brett and Ivan have drawn off each other to create an album inspired by life, changes, the seasons and relationships. The title track 'Seasons' is about how life changes from time to time, how it evolves in line with the seasons and how a person changes over time, sometimes without noticing it. The album artwork represents the four seasons of the year.

A Loungetree gig is an energetic caper through a range of musical styles from rock to indie to grunge to country stomp. Their musical influences, which have been likened to Nirvana, The Who, Stealers Wheel and Fleetwood Mac are evident, but their sound remains unique and fresh, and distinctly their own.

We invite you to enjoy the Loungetree way of listening!
