The band was wild and called Love Banshee… ...they had the kids in polos dancing to a string band. - James Pogue - Vice Magazine

Bio

Love Banshee is a band from Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario, but musically call a lot of places home. Built from a love of traditional songwriting, they fuse the planks of early Rockabilly, Dixieland Swing, traditional Country and Folk into a platform large enough to hold seven plus members and sturdy enough to withstand their buoyant energy.

In 2010 the band released the album “Vampire Songs” under the name The Music Box, which had regular airplay on CBC and charted well on college radio - including #1 on several stations. Within a year and a half, the band had toured the United States three times and changed their name to Love Banshee. Early in 2012 they lost a member, recruited four more and began working on new material, recording demos, touring and searching out all the busking friendly cities of the Southern United States. Making friends and fans on stages and street corners throughout states like Louisiana and Virginia, the band distilled their sound and performance like a fine bourbon, equally suited to sipping on a quiet porch, or firing up your gut for a raucous Saturday night.

The new 10 song album So Long Stone, was recorded on a Tascam eight-track cassette machine. Live performances in the band member’s living rooms over three days captured both exuberance (“Not Anymore,” “Take My Ring”) and some well-earned weariness (“Only Friend,” “There You Go”).

The album’s standout however is “The Night Our Parents Died,” a timeless song that laments the inevitable influence of our lineage where Tyler and Amy trade verses and harmonies in the style of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris.

Love Banshee will be touring and busking from the album’s release to early 2013 to promote So Long Stone.
