Micah Tappe of The Loveless Sound's Interview
Category: Writing and Poetry

1.. full name and age
Micah Tappe - 25

2. band name meaning
The name of the band is up to each individuals point of view on it.

3. how did you get your musical start
When I was three I started piano, when I was 5 I started singing, when I was 10, I started playing guitar. I went to an art high school and joined a dozen or so bands. I write and record my own all-original music.

4. influences
Anyone and everyone. Most notably Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction

5. favorite colors
Probably green

6. favorite rock bands
No bands formed in the past 8-10 years.

7. best promoters
? Unknown? No one has really shown potential for being good enough.

8. favorite songs to play live
Original: "Dreamers" or cover: "Sugar, We're Going Down" - Fall Out Boy

9. favorite bands to play live with
"Ben Hensley" - local

10. favorite places to play live
NYC, Chicago, L.A.

11. favorite places to write your songs
Anywhere... especially the Arizona desert.

12. favorite junk food
Valentine's hearts (chalky heart candy with writing on it)

13. what do you write your songs about
Anything and everything. I try to be more positive lyrically than others choose to be. Unfortunately, the "rock" genre has given off a 'negative' or 'angry' appeal in mainstream the last 10 years or which isn't necessarily the case.

14. what insturements do you play and how long have you played them
Guitar - 15 years (8 professionally)
Piano - 22 years (10 professionally)
Voice - 20 years (10 professionally)

15. favorite songs on the radio
I don't listen to the radio. However, one of my favorite songs to sing in general would be an adapted version of "Free falling" - Tom Petty.

16. mtv or vh1
Both suck. VH1 has more professionalism, but MTV has better ratings when it comes to making money.

17. favorite parks
If you're talking locally? Magic Kingdom - used to work there.

18. favorite sports teams
None - don't do sports. Music's my thing. I'll watch any sport any time, but I don't sway one way or another with teams.

19. good luck charms when you get nervous
None - keeps me living on the edge

20. first record or album you ever purchased
The Beatles "Abbey Road"

21. first concert you have ever attended
Green Day "Dookie Tour"

22. first music video or band that made you want to play music
The Smashing Pumpkins - "Today" video

23. first show you ever played tell me about that.
14 years old. Freshman in high school. I played guitar and piano for a Nine Inch Nails, "March Of The Pigs" cover for a "Battle Of The Bands" competition at my high school. We started a mosh pit, and while trying to smash a guitar on stage, I ended up breaking the stage with the solid-as-a-rock Fender Strat.

24. what do you think of the promotional efforts i am doign for your and your music.
Well, I'm not gonna lie. I'd love to be promoted by you, but your in South Carolina, and I'm down here in Florida (for now). So, I can't really give a good answer for ya.

25. describe your music in 8 words
Modern, progressive, alternative, pop-rock.

26. describe your self in 8 words
Positive, outgoing, professional, hard-working, head-strong, rocker.

27. tell me 8 things i should know about who you are
I'm male,
I'm 25 years old,
I write my own music,
I write music for movies and films
I write music for commercials
I am in 3 different bands,
I really want to find a good paying music job.
I will move to New York City in the next 6 months.

28. tell me 8 things i should know about who your band and music is and is like.
The Loveless Sound has all-original music
The band is made up of 5 people. 2 guitars, keyboard, bass, and a drummer.
The band has recorded in many different states. Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, North Carolina, California, and New York.
We have toured mainly in Florida and a little bit in Georgia, but we'd like to tour more.
I'm going to move to NYC in the next 6 months and continue writing music there.
The band's name and music has changed since it's start in 1997, when I formed the band in high school.
I've got 40+ songs in the works for The Loveless Sound as well as 50 others for films, commercials, movies, trailers, etc...
The Loveless Sound wants something more... something bigger and better... and wonders if you can help even though you're in South Carolina.

"Loveless Sound Isn't Loveless"

A sound for the loveless…
An emerging band out of Orlando, Florida proves to be the authority of modern, progressive alternative rock and its future. The Loveless Sound fronted by lead guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, Micah J. Tappe, have not only recorded 2 full-length, all-original albums, and toured the southeast US for months on end, but they have single handedly come up with a formula for a new age of music starting in central Florida.
Formed in early 2007, the 5-piece Loveless Sound has already released a 5-song demo on iTunes. Rave reviews puts this on top of local's favorite lists. Numerous venues are practically knocking each other over when booking The Loveless Sound. Bio

The Loveless Sound.

The 4-piece progressive, alternative rock band, led by frontman, vocalist, lead guitarist, and songwriter Micah J. Tappe was formed in early 2007 after meeting Glenn Rogers, Scott Christie and Dirk Ellis. After practicing and perfecting their 'loveless' sound, the band tirelessly recorded 30+ tracks releasing a 5-song demo on iTunes, and a 12 song full-length instrumental album entitled, "Epic Drone" while other releases are scheduled for a November 2009 debut. They then set out on a grueling, non-stop, 4-month tour.

Since then, the band has recorded 2 full-length, all-original albums. With a debut album scheduled for release in late January 2010. The Loveless Sound and their already-large, ever-growing fan base proves their sound isn't 'loveless' at all.

"Some songs", says Micah, "have been in the works since '97 when I was 14 years old."

The Loveless Sound has played numerous shows in the southeast US. A larger, 6-state regional tour is scheduled to start Fall 2009. A 7-track EP entitled, "Itch" is in it's final stages for release, as well as The Loveless Sound's first single, "The Rise" which include never-before-heard tracks such as the acoustic "Machine" and the beat driven melodic melodies of "Being".

A little more about Micah J. Tappe:
Micah was born in Connecticut but grew up in Jacksonville, Florida; home to many musical artists. As an accomplished musician, Micah has been studying the piano, guitar, and voice for many years. Being classically trained in piano since the age of 3, singing since the age of 5, and classically trained on guitar since the age of 10 has prepared Micah for a lifelong career in music. He has experience teaching different styles and techniques for the piano, guitar, and voice. Micah attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, in Jacksonville, Florida, where he performed nationally and won many awards for his musical accomplishments; most notably in the field of classical, blues, jazz and rock guitar. After graduating from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Micah attended Valencia College and the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, where he received an Associate of Arts degree in Audio Production and Music Performance is 2003, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Composition/Arranging and Music Performance in 2006.
Music has always played an important part of Micah’s life. The talent and hard work are clearly shown in The Loveless Sound.
