Lovers are People began in 2009 as the brainchild of pianist/composer Gregory Burton. Classical pianist from the age of 4, Burton had completed a degree in Jazz Performance at Concordia University in Montreal and, anticipating a break from academia, began exploring and writing songs.
The original intention for Lovers are People was to form an essentially acoustic ensemble that would play rock songs yet incorporating delicate arrangements as well as improvisation.
The band performed regularly in 2010 and recorded a three song E.P. during the late summer/fall of early material. While one can hear the original acoustic chamber-rock ideas in the string and horn arrangements, it's clear that driven guitar lines and washy vocals have taken a front seat.
the group continues to create and develop, moving towards establishing a consistent sound. Plans are solidifying to record a second e.p. in the Spring of 2011.
