"Lovers Like You that is. South Florida's up and coming rising electro/rock trio Lovers Like You seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. I almost forgot we had a local scene, then comes a band that just blew my mind. There dark melodic electro sound just explodes with their pounding rock beats, and electric guitar. This trio almost seems like a 7 piece band, as I seem to hear so much more coming out of their instruments.
The band is made up of David Levison who sings and plays keys. Edwin Otero which plays both Bass and Guitar. If that's not busy enough, he also does vocals for a couple of songs. Then finally, Ash Ali on the drums. They had this packed crowd at full attention as they rocked Churchills on Sunday. They surely won a ton of new fans this night as they have definatly made a fan out of me. You can find more info on Lovers Like You on there Myspace page. What do you get when you hear an explosion of wild catchy guitar riffs, surrounded by dark electronic melodies, pounded by fusion filled bass lines, and driven by sonic dance beats? You get music that will have your ears yearning for more. This music not only sounds diverse but its carried by visceral haunting images that explore the similarities of divine opposites like life and death or love, hate, and war all put into visual perspective fusing what encompasses the music and live performance of the Rock/Electro trio Lovers Like You.
Formed in the early latter of 2007, Lovers Like You is made up of Edwin Otero (vocals/guitars/bass), David Levison (vocals/keys/synths/programing), and Ash Ali (drums/programing). After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, it forced many great musicians, including David, to scatter to find a new beginning. David soon found himself in south Florida where he met Ash and Edwin. Deriving from different musical influences and backgrounds, their chemistry was instant, and soon the three began working on songs that would eventually mold Lovers Like You.
Lovers Like You straddles a wide range of genres and techniques while at the same time retaining a characteristically dark, melodic, and intense sound. Per the overwhelming request from fans, two tracks titled "Parallel" and "Recoverist" were released online creating an impressive web presence. Lovers Like You is currently hard at work on their debut ep titled "Strangers on Earth." Lovers Like You seduces anyone who listens, thus allowing their music to speak for itself. Care to be seduced?
