Lovesoul
Lovesoul was formed at the end of 2010 by Donny Taylor and Rebel Mariposa (Rebeca Lopez). Donny had been writing when he met Rebeca in the depths of San Diego’s Barrio Logan. Donny was living out of his car after moving back from a brief stint in Phoenix, Arizona were he had been trying to make his previous project “Dame un Beso” work with a drummer that he had known there. He had just got back into town and was attending a baby shower(party) from some mutual friends of his and Rebeca’s. He had been looking for the right girl for going on two years when he sat down next to Rebeca and asked her what she liked to do, her response “sing & dance”. On a whim, with neither of them having heard each other sing or perform, Donny asked Rebeca to join him in the studio the following week where he was getting ready to throw down some new tracks.The following week they headed into the studio to lay down two new tracks entitled “lot like u” and “gotta get it”. Adding these to a previous recording that Donny had done, “rockin to the rhythm of your lovesoul”.
After a month or two of working on material they decided to head back to the studio to record their new single “reason to live”, which they are currently shooting a concept video for with filmmaker/ director Norman Mackinnion. With the release of “reason to live” in combination with writing new material Lovesoul has really come into their own stylistically speaking using the diversity and open mindedness of their influences to create this sound with rock n’ soul overtones also integrating funk and electronic sounds to create an overall sonic quality driven by a guy/girl call and response vocal approach with rocking piano and guitar. The overall sound is full and dynamic.....and achieved live by only the two!
They have just completed their first release, a self titled EP and have been performing in southern california. The duo plan to break into the Los Angeles and Tijuiana markets this summer with a west coast tour lining up for the end of the year. Lovesoul is rapidily gaining loyal fans who have felt their sincerity in the energy during their live sets and also apprceiating the originality of the music. The true goal of Lovesoul is to travel the world bringing together people in the moment to sing, dance and celebrate life!
