Roundups

2002 Top 10 (Times Square)

Chris Fargis, Shift Manager of our Times Square store, has given you his favorites for 2003, and in the spirit of Virgin's advancement of developing artists, he's even given you some links to listen to the new bands he's chosen. Check it out below.

10) Dashboard Confessional, Unplugged This one squeezes into the top ten even though I haven't heard the whole thing yet. However trendy it has become, the Dashboard live experience is unparalleled.

9) Coldplay, A Rush Of Blood to the Head This album would be worth your fifteen bucks if “The Scientist” was the only track on it.

8) Superdrag, Last Call For Vitriol Superdrag is just one of those bands that consistently puts out albums full of well-crafted, honest, amazing rock songs.

7) Hot Rod Circuit, Sorry About Tomorrow One of the lesser known of the great collection of bands on California's Vagrant Records.

6) The Anniversary, Your Majesty Between their first and second albums, The Anniversary completely morphed from poppy synth-rock to kooky, groovy synth rock. Both records are must-haves.

5) The Ergs, The Ben Kweller EP The best band you've never heard. Check them out: click here .

4) The Pettit Project, Be Mine...If It's Not Too Much Trouble The best band you've never heard Canadian edition! Check them out: www.thepettitproject.com

3) Eminem, The Eminem Show Whatever you want to say about his politics and the content of his songs, the man is a brilliant lyricist and he flows like few others can.

2) The All American Rejects, The All American Rejects These boys just signed with DreamWorks Records. Their powerpop hooks and Beach Boys-esque harmonies should make them a big hit.

1) Taking Back Sunday, Tell All Your Friends Simply the best, most energetic and sincere record I have heard all year. Don't miss it. And if they were playing your town, you'd be crazy to pass up the opportunity to see the live show.
