Bio

"These boys sure can pick! What an enjoyable CD Great duet playing."

-Stefan Grossman

"It's a beauty! Thanks for sending it... I am really impressed with this CD!"

-Wanda Fischer, Host of "Hudson River Sampler' on WAMC.org

Singer-guitarists Phil Drum and Rob Adkins who make up the Saratoga Springs-based duo are also co-founders of the Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society, which should tell you pretty much what this debut album is all about keeping alive the old blues traditions and nudging em forward here and there ever so slightly. And they do a fine job.

-Greg Haymes, Nippertown

"You guys pick real good together."

-Roy Book Binder

"Low 'n Lonesome leans into their cool arrangements with such genuine passion that it creates a great feel in the whole room. And because they have deep knowledge of their genre and a sparky sense of humor, it's just as much fun to hear them set the songs up as it is to play them."

- Sarah Craig, Manager, Caffe Lena Saratoga Springs, NY

"Feet were tapping and heads were bobbing to the music performed by Low 'n Lonesome. Whether they were covering a Blind Blake piece or performing an original song, these two very adroit finger style guitarists sure made some fine music. Their humorous intros and stories were as entertaining as the music. The audience loved them! When word gets out about this talented duo, they'll be lonesome no more."

- Karen Finkenberg, The Eclectic Cafe, Bay Shore, NY

"Great finger picking, great selection of songs, and good humor to tie it all together."

-Sonny Ochs,  Host of "Folk Music & Other Stuff" on WIOXradio.org

Rob Adkins and Phil Drum are two fine Fingerstyle /Acoustic Blues guitar players and songwriters from Saratoga Springs, NY. As Low N Lonesome, they join forces and blend their talents to produce some of the finest old time Blues & Ragtime to be heard anywhere. They perform top-notch originals, as well as Blues-based versions of tunes from old school jazz, rock, folk, and country music, covering great artists from from Robert Johnson and Louis Armstrong to Hank Williams and Bob Dylan. Since getting together in 2011, Rob and Phil have played a number of venues, including , the Old Songs Sampler, the Dance Flurry, and Caffe Lena. They have also won praise from some pretty fine Blues players including the great Stefan Grossman, who called their recordings Fantastic! Great duet playing.

Rob Adkins hails from Louisiana, and plays a mix of blues, roots and originals based on a lifelong interest in and pursuit of several genres. He has recorded, wrote, and performed extensively in North Carolina, Florida, and New York. He actually got his first stage experience at an amateur night at Cafe Lena's after having auditioned for Lena Spencer herself, a memory he treasures to this day.
Phil Drum is an eclectic musician who always comes back to the Blues. As co-founder and leader of the Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society, Phil has organized and performed in Acoustic Blues concerts featuring such notable performers as Paul Geremia, Dakota Dave Hull and Joan Crane. Phil has performed throughout the Capital District, most notably Caffe Lena and the Dance Flurry, as well as shows featuring his Blues band, The Resonators. He in 2010 produced Old Blues, a highly praised CD of originals and old school Acoustic Blues, the title tune of which was featured in the online Nashville Review.
