Biography

Luanne Hunt is an award-winning, Grammy-balloted recording artist from Southern California, who records on the Independent label, Star Creek Entertainment.

Throughout her illustrious career as an Indie artist, Hunt has built an impressive list of accomplishments and a worldwide fan base with her refreshing and well-crafted country and folk tunes. Her 2007 CD, “Breaking Through,” produced two hit singles on U.S. and European Charts. The enchanting “Solace In The Wind” reached No. 1 on the European Country Music Association’s chart (Belgium) in July, 2010.

The tune peaked at No. 37 on the Indie World Country Chart, which is the largest and oldest independent music chart in the genre. Additionally, the song landed on the 2009 Grammy ballot in two categories: Best Country Song and Best Female Country Performance.

“’Solace in the Wind’ is one very pleasant and wonderful, stand-out performance, said Tom Robinson, program director for Kingstown Radio in the UK.  “ I can just imagine Luanne in a close circle of a small, intimate and attentive audience hanging on to every note and enjoying the music and lyrics and having a great time.”

Along with “Solace in the Wind,” Luanne has enjoyed worldwide success with her holiday tune, "Christmas Without You.”  In December 2011, it went to No. 1 on the European Country Music Association chart in France, Denmark and Austria. It also was the second most played song in Europe during the month of December, 2011.

In 2012, Luanne's Gospel tunes, “He Was There,” “There Is A Fountain” and “Pine and the Dogwood” landed at the No. 1 spot on Europe’s premier Hotdisc Christian chart.  Several of her songs also have held the No. 1 spot on Roots Music Report’s Folk Chart (Internet play) for four or more consecutive weeks. The chart is based on radio spins worldwide.

"Luanne's voice is beautiful and haunting and reminiscent of a female version of Simon and Garfunkel,” said Bobby Jo Valentine of Music Worth Reviewing. “Her lyrics are powerful, her musicianship is solid, and there are simply a thousand things to love about this artist. She will be sure to go far."

Hunt began pursuing a professional music career in the mid-1990s. She found immediate success with her critically-acclaimed single “I Don’t Bother Counting,” which was frequently played on the former KIK FM country radio station in Orange County, California and on other stations throughout the Southwest.

Additionally, many of Hunt’s songs have been played on AM, FM, Satellite and Internet stations around the world. In 2007, she was featured on an “On-Air” interview on
the “Steve and Johnnie Show” on Chicago’s WGN Radio. In 2009 and 2012, she was named "Christmas Star of the Day" on Doug Stephan's syndicated "Good Day" radio program.

In 2012, Hunt had the opportunity to record an original Christmas song with 1960s hit makers The Royal Guardsmen (“Snoopy’s Christmas” and “Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron”).  The tune, “Rudy’s Winter Break,” takes listeners on a humorous holiday journey to the Caribbean with Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, who is in desperate need of a little rest and relaxation.

Hunt, who co-wrote the song with her husband Steve, says recording with The Royal Guardsmen was the thrill of a lifetime.

“I am in awe of The Royal Guardsmen’s talent and accomplishments and to collaborate with them on this project was a great honor,” said Hunt.  “Making the record was a magical experience and one that I will never forget.”

Along with “Breaking Through,” Hunt has released four other CDs/EPs.  They include, “The Singles Sessions,” “How Christmas Feels to Me,” “Most Requested,” and “Time for the Holidays,” which features the American Songwriting Awards “Best Holiday Song 2014” nominee, “If Christmas Were Mine.”

Lyrics

The Sun's Comin' Up Over Memphis

Written By: Steve Hunt,Luanne Hunt,Kathleen Brennan, Kathleen Brennan

Verse I

A couple of cups of coffee and a pastry or two

I pull out of Starbucks with my memories of you

If I could only forget

And let go of these regrets

Maybe I could start my life anew

Chorus

Now the sun’s comin up over Memphis

And these wheels keep on rollin’ along

Now the sun’s comin up over Memphis

And the DJ is playin our song

Verse II

I’m tryin hard to move on but I don’t know where I’m bound

Can’t see much ahead beyond the borders of our town

Oh, the miles and the time won’t erase you from my mind

Still I’m not about to turn this car around

Repeat Chorus

Verse III

I wonder where you are and if you’re thinkin’ of me

Maybe I was crazy when I wanted to be free

Now this lonely highway just gets lonelier each day

And in my dreams it’s your face I see

Chorus

Solace In The Wind

Written By: Luanne Hunt

Verse I

I have walked across the sand dunes all around Kill Devil Hills

I’ve looked past the horizon for some thing to cure my ills

I realize that I can never live my life again

I stand here and take solace in the wind

Chorus

Like the wind, I have no destination

Like the wind, I wander to and fro

I realize for each beginning, there will be an end

I stand here and take solace in the wind

Verse II

Never once did I imagine all the turns my life would take

The people who would bless me, all the hurt left in my wake

I realize some wounds heal nicely, some will never mend

I stand here and take solace in the wind

Bridge:

The wind will wrap its arms around me

It hears confessions I don’t speak

And when I’ll listen to no other

The wind, she whispers as I weep

Repeat Chorus

The Miracle In You

Written By: Steve Hunt,Luanne Hunt, Luanne Hunt

Verse I

There are many times in life

We pray for miracles

When desires of our heart

Seem impossible

We draw on our faith

Vow to believe

In spite of what stands in our way

Our dreams will be achieved

Chorus

That’s the miracle in you

A strength that can’t be seen

Something that pushes you to strive to succeed

A little voice inside your head that makes you want to shout

“Yes, I can,” “Yes, I can,” “Yes, I can”

That’s the miracle in you

Verse II

In the face of challenges

We cry for miracles

Hoping for a hand

To lift our obstacles

We can’t see the sun

But move toward the light

Determined we will persevere

To reach the highest heights

Repeat Chorus

That’s the miracle in you

A strength that can’t be seen

Something that pushes you to strive to succeed

A little voice inside your head that makes you want to shout

“Yes, I can,” “Yes, I can,” “Yes, I can”

That’s the miracle in you

Bridge:

Everyday in every way you’ll find

You were made to make the grade

To shine

That’s the miracle in you

Repeat Chorus

I Believe In You

Written By: Denny Robinson,Luanne Hunt, Luanne Hunt

Verse I

You’ve been puttin’ in the overtime

Haven’t seen one extra dime

Years fly by with no reward, just blood and sweat

Been loyal to the corporate bone

All the rest like rollin’ stones

They bail out in the pressure zone, but you never do

Chorus

Tryin’ hard to get your big break

Pushin’ through the years of heartache

Never givin up on dreamin’

By now, I’d be screamin’

Oh your ship is comin’ that’s the truth

And remember when your blue, I believe in you

Verse II

It’s a fact that life’s not fair

Stress and strain, wear and tear

Still somehow you stay the course, keeping strong

Always steady in the ragin’ wind

Even though you may be wearin’ thin

There’s a strength you have within, to see you through

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:

The hard times are your days of glory

The journey is your greatest story

When destiny comes callin’ one day soon

You’ll sail beyond the blue

Repeat Chorus

A Fool's Name

Written By: Denny Robinson

Verse I

A fool’s name and a fool’s face

Are often seen in a public place

Mama said it was a big disgrace and you should be ashamed

Papa took his hatchet down, it’s your name you scratch it out

So she did as she was told, that awful day

She walked on down to the public park, up to the tree with her name in a heart

Hacked away at the bark until she cried

And a tiny light went dark inside

Verse II

He shipped out to the world war

Forever young in 44

That day in June, on the shores of Normandy

When the news came to the states, where family after family waits

And every telegram devastates, she knew where he’d be

She ran on down to the public park, up to the tree with the hatchet mark

Where he carved out that work of art, with a pride he couldn’t hide

And a tiny light went dark inside

Bridge:

So it is, so it goes,

Why, God only knows

Verse III

A million men came home from war

Enough of them came to her door

But the light came on again once more, in the fullness of time

She found herself with a husband soon

Who made her laugh on their honeymoon

Astounded her with a baby boom

And the sound of nursery rhymes

She’d walk her babes to the public park, say one day you’ll make your mark

They’d run away to a meadowlark, and she’d get misty eyed

But a tiny light burned bright inside

Bridge:

So it is, so it goes

Why, God only knows

Verse IV

The kids grew up and moved away

Her husband died and her hair turned gray

The grandkids found her a place to stay, down by the park

The days grow short with the winter sky

Fresh memories are the first to die

The tiny light that burns inside turns from dim to dark

Her mind slips back in sweet review of a time and a tree and a rendevous

And the sweetest boy she ever knew in a public place

With a fool’s name and fool’s face

A fool’s name and a fool’s face

He had a fool’s name and fool’s face

In Your Way

Written By: Lance Cosgrove,Luanne Hunt, Luanne Hunt

Verse I

I’ve been down many roads leading nowhere

Disappointments ruled my life, Man, I’ve had my share

Chorus

I hoped and prayed and pleaded hard

For something good to come my way someday

I thought I’d never win, so why not pack it in

Then I met You one day

You tried so hard before, to open up the door

But I was in Your way

Verse II

You soothe my soul like a fresh-air country ride

And You’re teaching me to trust, Lord don’t let me hide

Chorus

I hoped and prayed and pleaded hard

For something good to come my way someday

I thought I’d never win, so why not pack it in

Then I met You one day

You tried so hard before, to open up the door

But I was in Your way

Verse III

I believe that my searching is now through

And the thing that I have found, is my future’s found in You

Chorus

I hoped and prayed and pleaded hard

For something good to come my way someday

I thought I’d never win, so why not pack it in

Then I met You one day

You tried so hard before, to open up the door

But I was in Your way

BLESS YOU, DEAR CHARLES
WORDS AND MUSIC BY LUANNE HUNT
COPYRIGHT 2008

Verse I

‘Tween morning and noon

He exercised his pen

Took long walks in the eve to think things through

“Twas then he got to know

His timeless characters

Tiny Tim and Ebeneezer Scrooge

Chorus

Bless you, dear Charles

You touched us everyone

Defined Christmastime

Through the carol that you spun

We learned to be more generous

And the consequence of greed

Bless you, dear Charles

For good gifts indeed

Verse II

He left this world too soon

Just shy of 59

Fought for justice til he breathed his last

Valued simple things

Embraced his work with joy

Still a living part of the past
