"Standing ovations for Luca Bassanese"

' Standing ovation for the minstrel, activist, poet and musician Luca Bassanese, who slays austerity by summoning Trans-alpine fanfares and tarantellas in a grand Fellini operetta, in a style that is both musical and theatrical. For all ages and creeds.'' - Le Grand Soufflet Festival, France

"Luca Bassanese is without question one of the main characters of the new committed Italian popular music."

Italy has a fair production of international artists.  A fusion between Goran Bregovic and Manu Chao, with a Fellini-inspired spirit, Luca Bassanese is slowly emerging as a new musical hero to be watched.

With twelve albums under his shoulders, Luca is part protest singer, part storyteller. and a natural poet. He is a bit of a character and certainly one of the best advocates of the new social movements. In a country full of contradictions, people see Luca as a romantic warrior of our modern times. With the eye of a painter, he is raising questions about important issues - with cynicism and positiveness. And does  a remarkable job of getting people inspired to walk their path in beauty.

Luca grew up listening to Fabrizio de André and the pop-folk-protest singer-songwriters of the 1970's. Enlivened by the powerful folklore of both sides of the Adriatic, he then created his brew: a cocktail of poetry, love stories infused with Italian folk music, transalpine tarantellas and Balkan hints of brass. His shows with La Piccola Orchestra Popolare are Circassian and ruffling and shall put you in a good mood.

Luca has already won several honorary awards in Italy. He has collaborated with artists from various fields and countries, including the Original Kocani Orkestar of Macedonia, the Berber artist Bachir Charaf (nicknamed The Voice of the Desert), the satirical artist Antonio Cornacchione, and the playwright, actor and Nobel Prize Dario Fo, to name a few.

Abroad, Luca has received standing ovations in France, Benelux, Switzerland, and Hungary demonstrating that his performances are accessible to people of all ages, creeds, and backgrounds, and not only to Italians.

His new studio album is out now. (Oct. 2019).
