""Heavy Rotation Records Goes Forth""

“(Lucas Carpenter’s) song ‘Crimson Crown’ struck both sides of today’s musical spectrum: It was both commercially listenable and musically redeeming…and the singer gave the material great elasticity thanks to his incredible range.” - The Berklee Groove (Berklee College of Music's Newspaper

""The Bandstand: Lucas Carpenter""

"The singer/songwriter has released a collection of the hippest, most clever songs you’ve ever heard. The CD, Art Kids from the Country, combines the wit and playfulness of Ben Folds with the intricacies and profundity of Third Eye Blind. His Melodies are infectious and his intelligent lyrics often border on sexual. OK, He’s crossed that border and pretty much staging a coup on the state of sexual. The record culminates with the beautiful “Making Mirrors Extinct”, which in addition to being a wonderfully crafted song, carries an important message. It tells the story of a girl who has a serious problem with her self-image. Lucas’ raw talent and writing diversity oozes from the tracks as he flexes his eclecticeps. And the recording isn’t even the half of it. Live, Lucas gives off an amazingly personal vibe, like one of those paintings that follows you around the room. He’s making contact with everyone, and it’s so exciting, he stomps. His uniqueness is not something you want to miss out on. (Its) Whip-smart acoustic rock, Listening to Lucas Carpenter makes you a better writer and a better person."
- The Groove (Berklee College of Music's Newspaper)

"Engaging, natural performer... eclectic, theatrical blend of pop melodies from Cole Porter to 10cc and the lyrical scope of Noel Coward (Right Said Fred) to B 52's." - The World's Leading Independent A & R Company

"Pete Francis"

" Everyone give it up for Lucas Carpenter, it sounded great. I don't know how anyone could be more inventive." - of the band Dispatch

"Songwriter Carpenter more than just an 'Art Kid from the Country'"

“Catch him now, so you can say you knew him when …” - The Villanova

"Hidden Talent: Lucas Carpenter"

"A little poppy, a little fun and plenty witty, Carpenter’s sound is refreshing in a market seemingly permeated with soulless, uninspired lyrics. You have to appreciate anybody who manages to mix good upbeat tracks with well thought out words." - Popwreckoning.com

"Jon Aldrich"

“Lucas Carpenter seems to have music riddled throughout his
being. He is and oustanding song craftsman who can melt raw
energy into a sense of shear commerciality...and it comes out
being a beautifully singable song for all ages. He is a dynamic
performer who simply commands attention on stage. With this
ability, talent, and drive...I can easily foresee an exceptionally bright
future for this fine young man.” - Professional songwriter, producer, arranger, co-founder of The Berklee College of Music's songwritin

"Pat Pattison"

“...(Lucas) has always impressed me.
He’s talented, bright...and he always
suprises me with his work.” - Professor of music, author: Writing Better Lyrics

Bio

Amidst cookie cutter singer/songwriters, Lucas Carpenter brings a renewed sense of fun, honesty, and intelligence to today’s popular music. He also likes the smell of skunk...seriously.

His eclectic musical style and taste for odd smells are rooted in Pennsylvania, where he was raised an “art kid from the country”, and from living, learning, loving, and performing in various northeastern cities. Lucas has already logged over 10 years of performance experience, has played hundreds of shows around the US, and is a graduate of Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music.

Lucas performs a high-energy one-man-band show where he creates “loops” by recording and layering multiple instrument parts (including guitar, harmony vocals, tin whistle, keyboards, percussion, and even beatboxing) live onstage.

With the 2008 release of his fourth album, The Pixelated Path, Lucas Carpenter and producer Alder (Sean Kingston) ventured into territory that most singer-songwriters would not dare. The album features everything from fretless guitar, Irish tin whistle, nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle), toy piano, 80’s style keyboards, to an array of “percussion” sounds including paper being ripped, computer printer noises, beatboxing, and a desk chair rolling across a floor. The combination of these elements makes The Pixelated Path sonically more similar to Timbaland or Bjork rather than James Taylor. Though don’t be fooled, within his hooks and eclectic styling lie poetry for the masses—sometimes serious, sometimes comedic, but always honest.
