Saleem “Luck-E Stackz” Derry was born and raised in the “Uptown” section of Philadelphia. This is where Luck-E Stackz gained the skills he needed to survive. With his father being sentenced to 15 years in prison before his second birthday, he and his two siblings, Samir and Michelle, were forced to be raised in a single parent home. With no father figure at home, Luck-E Stackz appointed neighborhood drug dealers, along with rap stars such as 2pac and Jay-Z as role models.
He fell in love with Hip Hop in elementary school when a performance in a talent show won him first place. At the age of 10 he realized that he had the ability to tell a story by manipulating “words” to make rhymes- that lead to his first rap. With these “words”, he would be able to deliver his ferocious flow and savage swagger on just about any beat imaginable.
After surviving a gunshot wound to the neck at the age of 15, Luck-E Stackz became fearless. However, this near death experience made him realize that everything happens for a reason and that his purpose on this earth was to be more then your average street hustler.
Now, the 21-year-old CEO doesn’t view adversity as a problem, but more of an opportunity to defy the odds. Luck-e Stackz has been writing songs and performing for 11 years and in order to retain all control over artistic abilities he founded Mogul Mindstate Entertainment in early 2008. But without the proper business knowledge Luck-E Stackz failed to make this a profitable venture. Therefore, because of his determination to make it out the “hood” and into corporate America, he moved to Orlando, Fl. To attend Full Sail University and is now working on completing a B.S. in Entertainment Business.
During his stay in Orlando, he released his first mixtape “Gotta Feel Me!” which was hosted by the ALLPRO Dj’s: Dj Lady T and Dj Elamentz. He is now working on “Gotta Feel Me” pt.II & III and will be releasing his debut album “Root of All Evil” in 2010. The young and ambitious artist /entrepreneur is determined to succeed.
