Bio

The Gothenburg based band, Lucknow Pact was formed in 2002 by Markus Hasselblom, Mischa Hayman, Andreas Hartman and Lars Nordgren. Carl-Magnus Berger soon joined on keyboards. The members had a common goal to take the 80’s and 90’s guitar based indie music to a whole new level. Combining simple pop harmonies with a vibrant rhythm section, jangling chorus guitars and passionate vocals was their way of doing just that. After the release of their first vinyl single – A few drinks a few laughs – in 2004 the band was soon to be the talk of the swedish indie scene.
The band got signed by Hit in yo soul and released their debut album – Youth is for the old – the following year. By then drummer Lars Nordgren had left the band and been replaced by talented Therese ”Tammy” Karlsson. The album was greatly received by the critics as well as the public. With songs like ”A few drinks a few laughs”, ”Dowlands” and ”Forever young forever poor” they maintained the spirit of pop tradtion as well as transferring it to a contemporary sound.
Since then the band has been focusing on new material and have been on several tours in Spain where they have a faithful audience. Carl-Magnus Berger and Bass player Andreas Hartman both left the band and Fredrik Eriksson joined in 2007.
The new album – Open your arms – will be released in April 2010 by Hej Musik. The album contains twelve short yet vigorous songs and will hopefully put Lucknow Pact right back on the map, as one of Swedens most promising indie bands.
