""Roots Rising" by David Hayes"

...Karmageddon is a landmark album for Lucky Mud. Sure to capture the attention of audiences on the Gulf Coast and world-wide for it's insightful take on the regions growing pains. The album's first track (Cold Black Water) is a testament to the value of hope over materialism......Karmageddon is full to the brim with simple truths that are at the heart of good songwriting.
Maggie McKinney has emerged from the background to step into full command of her music. Her momentum as a songwriter has built over the last 3 albums and is admittedly hard to keep up with according to her other half. She is the kind of songwriter that shoots from the hip...... - Panama City Metro

"Panama City Coastline"

...a serious treat awaits you. Mike and Maggie McKinney, known to initiates and fans as Lucky Mud, have been entertaining for many years from Florida to Ireland. If you lived through the 60's & 70's you're familiar with the format. Maggie & Mike don't just put on a show, they make the audience a part of it. They perform original songs, with focus on the lyrics rather than background music or a backup band....The ability to improvise and catch their audience by surprise is their unique and warm style of involving the audience personally. Lucky Mud vocals are frequently reminiscent of other singers. One can often catch a similarity to the sound of Willie Nelson in Michaels' voice when he performs non original pieces and Maggie can do a pretty smoky Janis Joplin sound as well.
Their original music, however, is all their own. A unique blend of voices that complement each other perfectly and provide an evenings entertainment that you will treasure for a long time.
In this day and age you may never find another couple who can yodel and make you like it.
If you have an opportunity to listen in on one of their performances, by all means do so. - Panama City Metro

""Around Town" by Rebecca Valle"

A Lucky Mud show provides folk, blues, Celtic, honky tonk, cowboy yodels and a little rock and roll.
Lucky Mud's Michael McKinney provides vocal and guitar and Maggie McKinney lends her vocals, guitar, mandolin & bodhran to the music for tight harmonies on the strong, original lyrics. ..Focus on the lyrics that Maggie & Mike insert into their performances...... - Panama City Metro

Bio

Lucky Mud's new CD, Into the Night, is starting to get airplay in Europe as well as here in America. Fourteen original songs from Mike and Maggie McKinney bring out their skills as both vocalists and songwriters.
An important new album from the duo, each song tells a story, though there is no ‘theme.' It starts quietly with Into the Night, a tale of driving an old car into the unknown, "The night sky is dusted with stars/ and there's a pale crescent moon on the rise/ I've spent my whole life just running from you/ and I don't really know why."
The duo splits the songwriting on this, their eighth album, as Maggie follows Mike's opening song with a poignant story of living alone. Into the Night ends with a Cowboy-Swing song called Born to Honky-Tonk, then Maggie's raucous Truth With a Twist.

"Lucky Mud is from the deeper side of Folk Music. The couple have a soulful connection that is palpable, and their ballads are a much needed departure from the cookie cutter, sample-driven fodder currently filling the airwaves. A splendid way to battle the daily grind. "

"Lucky Mud's new CD (Ride the Pony) is a showcase of original contemporary folk music - pure down-home Americana, from Mike's beautifully melancholic "Evangeline," to Maggie's wonderful show-closer, "Ride the Pony," But it's the duo's milk-and-honey harmonies that wrap their sound up into one neat package"
