"Lucky Town Feature Story"

"When it comes to country music in Chicago, the six member band, Lucky Town, has the Windy City covered. The West Suburban based country band, is the combined talent of six Illinois artists, Andrew Jess, Amy Carlson and Mike Aquino on lead vocals and Matt Marvic on the drums, Chris Halla on the keyboard and Jason Trtan on the bass guitar. Many of the band’s members call Chicago suburbs like Downers Grove, Aurora and Wheaton home but their musical harmonies bring it home to Nashville.

Having opened for such acts at Chris Cagle, Bucky Covington and Heartland they’re quickly making waves as one of Chicago’s premiere country bands. Their dossier of songs typically includes personalized versions of today’s hottest country like Sugarland, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean as-well-as some of yesterday’s favorites.

You can catch Lucky Town on April 24 at Joe’s Bar as well as a host of other events around Chicagoland this summer. For more dates or to hear some of their music, visit their MySpace page."

"Lucky Town @ Joe's Bar"

Lucky Town is one of the newest bands to form out of the Chicagoland area. With members having been a part of the bands for local faves like Kimi Hayes, Mason Rivers, and more, the hometown crowd was more than ready to see what Lucky Town brought to the table.

On this particular night, they focused on an hour-long cover set that played out like a top 40-country radio station. Andrew Jess, who shares the lead vocals and plays guitar in the band got the crowd going right away with his statement "We're here to party with you tonight Chicago!" and with his beer raised to the ceiling they blasted into their set with, "Brand New Girlfriend." The crowd was ready to sing-a-long, and they let Andrew know it as they sang with him as loud as they could.

Amy Carlson took over the leads, showing off her tremendous voice as she seemed to channel Jennifer Nettles as she belted out "Settlin" and had the crowd, especially the females rocking right along with her.

As the set rolled forward one thing that became more and more evident was that Lucky Town was a band comprised of a whole lot of talent. Whether it was Andrew Jess delivering his crisp vocals, Amy Carlson stamping around the stage as she showed her powerful voice to the crowd, or Mike Aquino laying down the guitar licks that kept the crowd cheering along, everyone was having a great time with Lucky Town.

The interaction of Andrew Jess and Amy Carlson with the crowd, and on this evening a near sold out crowd, was incredible. Andrew chose to get the crowd on his side with a holler and swaller done Nashville-style that had the crowd raising a drink with the band and screaming before taking a swig.

Amy literally took to the crowd during their version of Kellie Pickler's "Red High Heels" as she leapt from the stage and stood amongst the ladies belting out the female anthem with them.

With the only exception being their version of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues," the set list featured mostly newer songs that Lon Helton will be spinning on the countdown across the nation. From Blake Shelton's "The More I Drink," to Luke Bryan's "All My Friends Say," to Miranda Lambert's "Famous In A Small Town," you are sure to have a great time with Lucky Town if you are a fan of modern country. - Gone Country Magazine
