thelucyhammondband is the musical love child of it's namesake,Lucy Hammond. Performing since early childhood,Lucy grew up onstage. Her teens spent in gospel groups & traveling performance choirs,her 20's saw her moving into the Portland music scene in the 80's.
When motherhood came knocking she hung up her microphone,feeling she only had one shot to get it right.
When the kids could operate the microwave & were nearly grown,her musical dreams was resurfaced! Months of auditions & answering ads brought the talented players needed to make it happen!

Lucy's vocal heroines include Etta James,Joss Stone,Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi,KoKo Taylor,Bettye Levette & Janiva Magness.
The band as a whole draws inspiration from such groups as The Black Crowes,Little Feat,Atlanta Rythmn Section,Sam&Dave,James Brown,Bad Company,Eagles, Jimi Hendrix& all the blues influenced artists past, & present, too legion to mention.
With FOUR diverse vocalists capable of fronting a band,thelucyhammondband always has something for everyone ! We love to switch it up, mix it up, and entertain our crowd. While Lucy is the driving force vocally, the opportunity to let the talents of her band mates shine, is one she revels in !!
Performing original sets, and the quality covers with their own special spin, thelucyhammondband will not allow it's audience to be bored, or sit still ! When thelucyhammondband plays, THERE'S GONNA BE A PARTY !! ;o)
