"SBA Artist of the month"

Meet Lucy Mason; With her younger years straddling both the UK and Australia, Lucy Mason’s musical voyage has Australia firmly entrenched. Insightful lyrics and haunting minor melodies suggest that there’s immense depth to this young songwriters work. Honest and poignant lyrics, together with powerful performances, have quickly become the trademark of Lucy’s body of work. Numerous local performances with her fellow musicians have been extremely well received in and around Sydney.

Her debut EP, produced in 2007 by music producer Steve James of Rocking Horse Studios fame, proved that tracks like “Diversity” and “Silencing” warrant the listeners’ attention. Comparisons to Amy Lee of Evanescence have been made with Lucy’s lyrical aptitude.
Although not commercially available via retail outlets Lucy’s Diversity EP was sold via her my space site garnering interest from thousands of fans.
Solid stints in the studio over the past twelve months have seen Lucy Mason continue her path into the world of the minor chord.

Lucy Mason’s latest track “I’m Left” is a reiteration of her powerful and emotive lyrics and melodies. Soft yet haunting.
Lucy’s influences of Radiohead, Coldplay, Paramore, Alanis Morissette, No Doubt, Muse and The Cranberries are apparent with her blend of delicate verses, big rock choruses and powerful harmonies.

Currently busy in studio, recording additional album tracks, 2009/early 2010 will see the launch of Lucy’s debut album.

Australian singer-songwriter Lucy Mason is a reluctant self-promoter. An unwavering Aussie commitment to stoicism combined with an acute self-deprecating awareness has been key in defining a style of music that is painstakingly authentic. “I don’t sing about partying,” she says. “I always have something to say that is a little too personal, and may be a little confrontational to some people who are experiencing something similar”. Yet, there’s not a hint of self-righteousness or piety carried through her melodic harmonies, and Lucy comfortably posits her music as firmly pop while cultivating work that is, at all costs, genuine in its emotion and deeply resonant.
The evolution of Lucy’s work is impressive; indeed it has taken her from the shores of Sydney’s Northern Beaches to the bustle of lively London. She’s got a few tours under her belt, supporting the likes of Jamie Cullum, Josh Kumra and Matt Corby, and she’s received Mayoral invitations to sing in front of thousands in London's Trafalgar Square. Last year’s EP “White As Snow” displayed an accessible vulnerability that expert songwriters manage to evoke, while maintaining some mystery that hints there may be more layers yet to peel. Coincidentally, the next layer is here and available for your listening pleasure.
