Luis Banuelos

Luis Banuelos grew up near Los Angeles in Ontario, California. He started playing piano at the age of 6. He was playing at a professional level by the time he was 10 years
-old and was eventually recognized as a piano prodigy.
When he was 14 years-old he found a guitar in the trash, got it fixed and began playing at 15. At 16 years-old he was already performing in Hollywood in a Hip-Hop band called Love & Rage. This is when Banuelos realized that not only music, but performing was his true calling and that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He is 30 years
-old now and in the last 14 years has explored almost every different genre of music. While mastering Flamenco, soul, r&b, rock and classical guitar, he has created his own style by fusing some of these genres together . His influences range from Tool to Norah Jones, from the Roots to Stevie Wonder and from Dream Theater to Ravi Shankhar..
While it is true that Austin, Texas is full of musicians and guitar players, one would be hard-pressed to find a guitar player as unique and vastly talented as Banuelos. When the listener sits down to listen to Banuelos play, he will not hear the same cover songs that seem to come out of every bar on sixth street; on the contrary he will hear something he has never heard before that will tickle his ear and make him feel good
Banuelos has made music his life and his career, pursuing his dream of being the best and the most versatile at what he does. He is most definitely in a category of his own. He has managed to set himself apart from the typical Austin scene, sticking out like a soar thumb. He is captivating, original, and passionate. When he performs it can sometimes actually sound as if there are at least two guitar players performing. He plays Spanish guitar infused with underground Hip Hop with the energy of Rodrigo and Gabriella's rhythms, the finger work of Al dimeola, the soul of The Roots and the eeriness of Tool. With all of these mixed together, Banuelos creates a sound that you will never hear anywhere, much less by one person.
He has performed in Los Angeles at the Whiskey a Go Go ,the Roxy, and Hollywood Athletic Club. He has also opened up for The Roots, Del the funky Homosapien, The Alcoholics with Defari ,and The Jedi Mind Tricks. In Austin he performs at Spill, Annie's, QUA, Shiner Saloon, Rutamaya, Hole In The Wall ,The Hideout Theater, The Parish, The Saxon Pub & Threadgills.
Banuelos' goal is to perform around the world and to Inspire and make his mark in the history of music. It seems he is well on his way.
