Bio

Firstborn from a musical family, on the road since the age of 17, Luiz Brasil won a Latin Grammy in 2002 and a Multishow Award in thw category of Music Producer for the album MTV Acústico Cassia Eller.
He has been working with Mar Revolto, his first band, Moraes Moreira, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethania, Cassia Eller, Marisa Monte, Fernanda Abreu, Daniela Mercuri, Skank, Elba Ramalho, Nando Reis, Luciano Pavaroti, Riuychi Sakamoto, Elza Soares, Miguel Zé Wisnick, Jussara Silveira, Daniela Mercury and Ivete Sangalo ... For Cassia Eller, Luiz produced and arranged the albun“Com Você Meu Mundo Ficaria Completo” and the awarded “MTV Acústico Cassia Eller”. With his compatriot Caetano Veloso, Luiz Brasil acted as a musician, arranger and studio chief in the works Circuladô Vivo, Fina Estampa, Fina Estampa Live, Omaggio a Federico and Juliet, Livro, Noites do Norte, and Foreigh Song. With Gal Costa, participated in the creation of the acclaimed show “O Sorriso do Gato de Alice”, and the CD “Mina D'Água do Meu Canto”. Luiz Barsil also worked with Jussara Silveira, producing and arranging three of her albums: “Jussara Silveira”, “Canções de Caymmi“ and “Entre o Amor e o Mar”
He took part in the event Pavaroti and Friends, along with Caetano Veloso. Luiz made the arrangements for the string orchestra in the opening cerimony of the “Jogos Panamericanos” in Rio de Janeiro, sung by Daniela Mercury.
Luiz Brazil also participated in the composition of soundtracks for several Brazilian films such as Quatrilho, Central do Brasil, Gêmeas and Ópaí Ó.
He went on tours with Riuychi Sakamoto with whom, he recorded four CDs on Tom Jobim`s compositions in the United States, Japan, Europe and Brazil being “Casa” the fist one and A Day In New York awarded as the best Brazilian Music album, in 2004, at Premio Tim de Música Brasileira.
On Rede Globo, Luiz Brasil worked as musical director for the TV special Trapalhões 25th Anniversary. He attended the event Carte Blanche to Caetano in Paris, with Lenine and Augusto de Campos; arranged three tracks for Simone`s latest album, Na Veia; produced and arranged, in Portugal and Brazil, the CD “The Coréon Experiment” of the Angolan singer Coréon Du.
In 2006, Luiz produced and arranged CD the album "Nobreza”,a duo with Jussara Silveira which was well received by the critic, released by Maianga.
He recorded his first instrumental CD, "Brasileru", in 2005, with wonderful Brazilian musicians and with Ryuichi Sakamoto as a special guest.
Finally, in 2011.2, Luiz released his latest album, Beira, which has been nominated to Premio da Música Brasileira, 2012, for the best instrumental CD.
