"Lukas Rossi: ‘Hello’ Cover Review"

Have you ever wondered what a dirty, gritty version of an Adele song would sound like? Well, I think I’ve found the answer.

Lukas Rossi, Canadian-born rocker, just released his cover of Adele’s “Hello” and let me tell you it’s utterly fantastic. Rossi shot to fame after competing and winning the rock version of American Idol called Rock Star Supernova. Rock Star Supernova featured guitarist Gilby Clarke (ex-Guns N’ Roses), drummer Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) and bassist Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica) decided they wanted to form a new band together and were looking for a lead singer to front the band.

Sounds pretty cool right? Well, ultimately they chose Rossi over contestants like Ryan Starr and Toby Rand (both who went on to have some success on alternative radio stations).

Rock Star Supernova was formed in 2006 and lasted about one record with all the original members (Newsted departed in 2007) and eventually broke up officially in 2008. Not an ideal end to a band that had quite a bit of talent. Rossi’s vocals are more than impressive no matter what song he takes on so this eventually led to him to fronting a few different bands and having his own solo career.

He made a brief appearance on Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew to support his wife, Kendra Rossi. Other than that, he’s been pretty low key for the last few years.

I have listened to Rossi’s version of “Hello” on repeat for the last four days and I’m not sure if I’ll ever get sick of it. While he’s not Adele (no one can be Adele), if this song was released just by him then I would love it just as much as the Adele version. His powerful, dirty beautiful, voice gives the song a whole different side to it. I find myself getting lost in his vibrato and wanting the song to never end.

Rossi is backed by a full rock band with the typical instruments, guitar, piano, bass and drums that collaborate wonderfully with his voice to make this an epic cover. It gets me excited to see what Rossi has in store for us in the future. With a voice like his, it would be no surprise to me if greatness comes from him. His voice is one of those that just can’t not be praised. Don’t just take my word for it – take a look at the video below! - PPCorn

"Lukas Rossi: From Frontman To Fatherhood"

It’s hard to believe it’s been nine years since Toronto native Lukas Rossi was declared the winner of the second season of Rock Star and assumed frontman duties for Supernova, a band comprised of Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and former Guns n’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.

Well Supernova has since faded out but Rossi has a new light in his life: his son Bryden. - ET CANADA

The band said the competition was tough, but viewers of this summer’s “Rock Star: Supernova” could have predicted from the very first episode that the gig was probably going to end up in the lap of goth-glam croaker Lukas Rossi. - MTV NEWS

"Rossi Brings It Home"

"Rossi brought it home with a very rangy voice that was absolutely soothing one moment and curdling the next. But it is a beautiful instrument and he plays it with obvious talent. And he leaves every bit of himself on stage. His music is worn on his sleeve and taps into his emotions like a spigot
into a keg of Labatt's Blue."- Ryan Beachkofski, Easy Reader News - Easy Reader News

"Stars Down ROCKS Toronto!"

"The trio has more energy than I’ve seen onstage in a while. Briseño is not the stereotypical bass player – he was all over the stage. When he was not jumping around he was delivering perfect harmonies to Rossi’s powerful lead vocals. Briseño and Rossi interacted with the crowd all night. While Jamieson put everything he had into kicking the shit out of his drum kit.

All those who came expecting a slamin’ rock show certainly got one! The band didn’t disappoint – but admitted they weren’t prepared for two returns to the stage. Deciding on “Good Enough” they rocked the show to a close with a second encore and left the audience wanting more. I see a bright future for these talented, down to earth musicians!" - The Thought Vox

"Lukas Rossi A Slam Dunk!!"

"I followed up on your recent event for the City of Fort St John and am utterly delighted with the feedback they shared. You should know that we rarely get such detailed & glowing reviews. Congratulations…clearly, you are a slam-dunk!"

“The song of the night was definitely Headspin, the original Rossi wrote with his other band Rise Electric. Dedicating it to his mother his voice changed effortlessly from razor raw screams to a soaring falsetto, fading out to the awe-struck crowd” -

"FELT Club -- Boston"

"Green lights, lots of Heineken bottles and an utterly devoted crowd of fans from all over New England set the mood for one of the most humbling and passionate performances to ever take place at FELT -- Rock Star Supernova's Lukas Rossi!" -

Canada obviously loves their home boy as the group's label presented Rockstar Supernova with plaques signifying their self-titled debut album had gone platinum (100,000 copies sold). - JANE STEVENSON -- Toronto Sun

"Rock Star Supernova"

"It was quite apparent that Lukas Rossi had returned to a very warm welcome at home in Toronto. He appeared to be quite moved on more than one occasion as the crowd stood on their feet and cheered for their homeboy. The band did perform an encore; their choice, “Let’s Spend the Night Together” by The Rolling Stones.

Overall, it was a great show, and being such a huge fan of the Rockstar series, I’m so glad I took this opportunity to see these musicians doing what they do best – ROCKING OUT!" -

"We couldn't make a list of covers without including a rock version of "Hello," and this one by Lukas Rossi is pretty fantastic." - THE HUFFINGTON POST

"RockStar: Supernova Winner, Lukas Rossi Releases Rock Version of Adele's "Hello" in a Way Only a Rock Star Can!"

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, December 16, 2015 ( - Nice Comeback Rossi!

Reality show RockStar: Supernova winner, Lukas Rossi just reminded the world why he was chosen among thousands to front a band with some of the biggest stars in music. He gave us an amazing ROCK version of Adele’s “Hello” in a way that only a rock star can!

After winning RockStar:Supernova in 2006, Lukas Rossi kept himself busy and his fans excited, with a successful solo career but we haven’t really heard much from him as he took some time out of the spotlight. A little thing called life (and fatherhood!) happened and he seemingly faded out of the spotlight a la J.D. Fortune (seriously, what the heck happened to that guy?!)

Lukas released many solo albums and is now about to release a new record with his band “The Halo Method”, consisting of guitarist Ben Moody (Evanescence, We are The Fallen), drummer Miles McPherson (Paramore, Kelly Clarkson) and bassist Josh Newell (In This Moment). To put it bluntly, Lukas is back with a vengeance!

Now Lukas has returned in a BIG way with a haunting, rockin’ rendition of Adele’s new hit single “Hello”-and it feels like he never left. Over 600K views in three weeks and countless radio play worldwide!

Earlier this year Lukas teased new music with former Supernova band-mate Tommy Lee. I can only hope that this means that exciting things are ahead!
