"Luke Liddy - Victory Music Review"

This collection of original songs by Luke Liddy uses effective backgrounds and effects. Luke's singing is out front making the lyrics clear. "If I lose my balance, I'll know how to step back in line." 'Circadian Rhythm' is a pleasant piece and Luke's voice with the ghostly harmonies is effective.

'Laughing At Danger' is a nice melody and an introspective poem. I like the use of the piano and bass behind this positive message. 'Back Door Rain' begins with fine guitar and mandolin. This is a nice song with a great hook "Back door rain, the sun is on the front porch..." There's a good reason this slightly country track is the title song. It works very well with Luke's voice. Other instruments include bass and violin.

'Songbird' sets the stage very well instrumentally and the poetry is full of imagery. 'Boomerang' and 'Call Me California' complete the message. The latter is relaxed and "laid back like a river...pour me something smooth." This is a pleasant album with nice production by Luke Liddy.

"Luke Liddy - Back Door Rain"

Roll Magazine Review – September 2011

LUKE LIDDY—BACK DOOR RAIN(Twin Ridge Records)
For some, releasing an EP is considered a stopgap between full-length albums, an opportunity to remind people you exist and maybe make a few bucks in the process. For singer-songwriter Luke Liddy, his new EP Back Door Rain is a chance to get clear, concise and deep without overdoing it.

Six songs of finely crafted contemporary folk make up Back Door Rain, including the titular number three tunes in. The song has a homespun feel in the music, with its warm harmonies and violin; the lyrics are also familiar and comforting, a sense that runs through all six songs in the collection. If you were ever inclined to write an ode to songbirds with the title “Songbird,” you needn’t trouble yourself, as Liddy has already got you covered. “Call Me California” speaks to the laid back and pastoral parts that make up the majority of real estate in the populous state, though it successfully evokes the Laurel Canyon scene of the mid-to-late ‘60s in its softly strummed guitars and Liddy’s own equally soft vocals.

As the region makes its gentle transition from summer into autumn, Liddy has provided the ideal soundtrack. —Crispin Kott
