"Lu Mitchell keeps fun in her 'folk'"

"They'll probably be singing Lu Mitchell's songs around the fire in summer camp around 2049. That's if by then young campers sing about old women caught growing marijuana or young women aspiring to be misbehaving White House interns....

...If Elaine Stritch sang like cross between Lotte Lenya and the Kingston Trio she'd be Ms. Mitchell.......Her fans were out singing along with every chorus. You've never seen so many silver-haired groupies in T-shirts with performer's logos.

The performer and her band Catch-23 made you want to hear her again.

"Recordings: Alarums and Excursions"

"... Lu is able to channel strong feelings about the corporate world, the Christian right, and the medical profession to name a few of the targets into clever and catchy songs, never sounding mean-spirited or superior. 'She flails the sacred cows of our society in high good spirits.' ..." - Faith Petric - Newsletter of San Francisco Folk Music Club

"Aging With Grace As A Senior Singing Star"

Back at Millbend Coffeehouse, Lu Mitchell regaled her audience with belly laughs galore, poking fun at both the silly and the somber in today's society.

Lu Mitchell returned to Millbend Coffeehouse in The Woodlands, Texas, on July 10, 2010 to a packed crowd, mostly older adults, who shook with laughter at one satire after another. Her comments on daily living were both piercing and hilarious.

Sitting in the audience provides an uplifting yet rockingly funny interactive experience for seniors and others alike. At one time she jokes about growing up singing Latin and then moving to Texas and learning gospel!

In just moments she was pouring her heart out about hungry children, a song in both English and Spanish. The audience was startlingly quiet and filled with caring. Soon the mood switched and listeners smiled as she sang My Cat to the tune of My Girl. Before anyone knew it, the fans were rocking with laughter when she switched to Back in the Stirrups Again about women going through yearly gynecological exams! - Hildra Tague, Suite 101.com

"Lu Michell is a funny gal"

"...Lu Michell is a funny gal who cocks a saucy irreverent eye at our
mad, mad, mad world....like a banshee zonked on truth serum...

Bio

Lu Mitchell, award winning singer/songwriter, has appeared in concert throughout the United States and recently in Ireland. She is in demand as an "after dinner" entertainer, and today she and her band are consistent favorites at The Pocket Sandwich Theater and Uncle Calvin's Coffee House in Dallas, Texas.

A prolific songwriter, Lu has become known for her clever and witty social comentary. Her songbook, "Singing For Her Sanity," contains sixty-five of her best songs about TV Evangelists, Doctors, Garage Sales, and anything else that tickles her sense of the absurd in this land of Big Macs, Mammograms, and the Internet. She has eleven CDs to her credit.

A few of her songs are:

Mary Stuffed Her Boss In The Paper Shredder
The Mammogram
Love On The Internet
