Korean musician Luna Lee plays the gayageum, and she does so like none other. She is a virtuoso on this ancient Korean string instrument and has introduced its' sound to a global audience by taking the instrument beyond standard Korean traditional music and into the realm of contemporary music to stunning effect.

After earning her university degree in gayageum performance, Luna began focusing on expanding her range by tackling music from leading guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson. In the process Luna invented many new playing techniques such as 'Gayageum Power Chords', made subtle modifications to the instrument to gain more volume and tone, and applied electronic effects to further widen the gayageum's musical palette.

Luna has posted over 150 videos and sound files over the last 8 years playing original music and also covering traditional Korean music, blues, classic rock, grunge, k-pop, romantic ballads and more, all played impeccably on the gayageum. These videos have earned over 17 million views and 110,000 YouTube subscribers. Miss Lee started with Patreon in 2015 and within 9 months had enough support to drop her day job teaching music and pursue her performance career on a full time basis. Her growth as a musician continues. Most recently she has started adding vocal tracks to selected videos to much acclaim.

Luna is an adept and experienced performer having won applause on stages across the globe. She is equally comfortable in a rock band, jazz band, symphonic or solo setting. Luna's favorite setting is with a rock/blues band and that was her choice for her two recent South By Southwest Showcases. Luna's YouTube channel includes a 'Live Performances' playlist with over a dozen clips from various shows over the last 8 years which we hope that you will enjoy!
