Hailing from South Jakarta in Indonesia but signed in England, LunariaN bring an interesting blend to the music scene with the release of their début EP, Experimental Thinking. Experimental surely is the keyword in that title, as the band flow through a mix of alt-rock, industrial synth and folk to create one of the most diverse opening salvos in modern rock.


The four-piece come out guns blazing with “Fire”, weaving synths with distorted guitars over an alternative rock beat, not unlike a cross between Linkin Park and Nine Inch Nails. Ismaya as frontman handles synth duties, shares guitars with Anink, whilst also possessing a pleasant and catchy mid-range voice. The guitars themselves provide either driving alt-rock chords or floating melodies mixing with strings such as ... - Mostly Metal

Trully original..sebelum lebih jauh, mari kita berkenalan dengan band yang dimulai di kampus STAN Jakarta, November 2006. Rivelino Ismaya, Dian Ardi Pratama & Fuad Hadiyanto memulai sebuah band bernama Rivel. Pertengahan tahun 2007, Ardi mengundurkan diri dari band karena kewajiban pekerjaan sehari-hari. Cesar Samuel datang dan mengambil posisi bassis. Sekitar Januari 2008, Fuad juga ditinggalkan. Band ini masih terus dan mulai serius. Lagu-lagu mulai dicatat dengan benar dan nama band diubah menjadi LunariaN karena berbeda adalah apa yang diinginkan band. Pertengahan tahun 2009, Cesar meninggalkan Jakarta dan bekerja di luar kota. Pada bulan Maret 2010, Ekky Setyawan mengambil posisi drummer, Immanuel Willy menjadi bassist tambahan sampai akhirnya Cesar ditinggalkan karena ketidakmampuan yang bergerak dari satu kota ke kota lain, sedangkan Ben Iswanto memegang posisi gitaris sebelum dia juga ditinggalkan dan digantikan oleh Anink Edyson pada bulan Februari 2011.
Sehingga line-up sekarang adalah: Rivelino Ismaya (gitar, vokal, synth, programming), Ekky Setyawan (drum), Immanuel Willy (bass), Anink Edyson (gitar)
Review : wuuuih..kalo melihat perjalanan band ini cukup jelimet, itu belum apa-apa, setelah gue dengar demo mereka yang diambil dari EP mereka "Experimental Thinking". LunariaN menurut gue adalah band yang berani melampaui batas-batas yang seakan digariskan oleh industri musik tanah air, bahkan internasional. Sangat terasa root musik rock-n-roll di lagu Etalase Debat Manekin, namun dengan banyak progresi nyeleneh. Yup, dari banyak band yang terinfluence Radiohead yang gw tau, rasanya mereka inilah yang paling bisa keluar dari box, karena masih kentalnya komposisi rock dengan balutan sound yang vintage. They may not be exactly local, as this talented four-piece hail from Indonesia, but they are definitely something to look out for. If you’re looking for something fresh and new, but with the underlying features that are ever-present in a classic rock band, you’ve found it.
LunariaN have the talent, and they’ve certainly got the tracks, with peculiarly genius hits like ‘Generation in a deadline’ and ‘Xenophobia’ keeping rock and roll alive.
However ‘Scream Sonata’ is by far the most impressive track I’ve heard. Opening with a complex classical piano stance, one may compare ‘Scream Sonata’ to something attempted by HIM... until the first riff smashes its way into consciousness. With heavy drums and even heavier axe work, ‘Scream Sonata’ is a track that will have you head-banging like there’s no tomorrow, and you might have to check it’s the same band as before! LunariaN is more than diverse, every track is different and they’ll consistently keep you guessing as to where they’re going and what they’re doing.
