"NME June 2009"

Theatrical Love Cats Inspired Revelry from the Medway Maniac. Features some superb wailing (a good sign) - NME

"The Fly - Accidents Occur While Sleeping"

Genius is a word that's bandied about with all the abandon of a Tourette's ridden parrot with a particularly big mouth. Well, squawk fuckin squawk, because the Fly has always had a bid mouth, and we've just taken a crap on long John Silver's shoulder. Simply put, Lupen Crook IS a genius, and his debut album "Accidents Occur While Sleeping is an excruciatingly imaginative piece of work that drips with dreams of insouciance......

....And so we repeat : pieces of fuckin eight, this is unadulterated genius'

The Fly 5/5 - The Fly Magazine

"NME - Accidents Occur While Sleeping"

'A cry from the darkest recesses of the soul, this makes for uneasy, but compelling listening' NME 8/10

Lupen made NME's cool list in 2005:

'A weird and wonderful tangle of nervous energy, Lupen crook boasts the coolest name on this list, paints fascinatingly grotesque artwork...and seems extremely proud of the fact that carl barat thinks he is "a cunt" He's the coolest cunt on planet earth. Obviously.

Bio

Since his initial appearance back in 2005 Lupen Crook has established himself as one of Britain's most prolific and original songwriters. On the live circuit he has gained vast acclaim for his intense and dramatic performances.

Lupen Crook and The Murderbirds music has been described as 'uncompromising', 'eccentric' and even 'dangerous'. Others have called them Britain's best kept secret.

They have produced two critically acclaimed albums and a great collection of original material. A hands on creative approach to their releases has earned them a loyal following of admirers.

An artist and a poet, Lupen has expressed a complete dedication and true understanding of his role as song writer and lyricist. With an ability to find clarity from chaos, coupled with a beguiling ear for melody and song, Lupen Crook and The Murderbirds are an appealing and unusual band.

After completing contractual obligations at the beginning of 2008, Lupen Crook and the multi-talented Langridge brothers, Bob and Tom, headed to New York, where, during a 14 date string of shows they met Chicago born Violinist, Craig Harff.

Since then, Lupen Crook and The Murderbirds, as a four piece, have written and recorded three new EPs and an album. This is their most serious and spirited body of work. For the first EP of the year, 100 hand-painted canvas sleeves were hand made by Lupen Crook himself. Drawn from the heart, the new material is a concise and emotive document, demonstrating exciting times ahead for Britain's most inventive and exciting unsigned band.
