"Band Celebrating Release of Their 1st CD"

--The following is an excerpt from a front page feature on Lydian Gray--

"In a series of local appearances this spring, Lydian Gray band has attracted considerable attention for its original songs and unusual sound--what one local aficionado called 'a cross between the Beatles and Kurt Weill'." - Albuquerque Journal North

"Young Blood"

Some of Santa Fe’s most gifted young musicians, Lydian Gray, Some Kind of Dumb, Jake Trujillo, Chalice and Eliza Lutz (Prolly) illustrate the undeniable relationship that exists between art and music. From experimental folk and rock-jazz hybrids to pop-punk and metal, Warehouse 21’s “4th  Annual Music Night” at the Museum of International Folk Art highlights the diverse talents of Santa Fe’s youth. Lydian Gray’s fusion of eclectic rock and jazz has garnered a significant amount of attention and, consequently, the band is currently gearing up for its first official album release. Some Kind of Dumb is eager to rock and with influences such as NOFX and Rancid, there is no doubt it will leave the audience thunderstruck. Trujillo’s laid back acoustic music, Prolly’s punk-infused folk and Chalice’s hardcore metal keep things in tune while W21’s After Shock traveling Printmaking Studio artists have their silk-screens on display. Bio

Lydian Gray was formed in Santa Fe, NM, in the summer of 2007. Compared by many to artists such as Kurt Weill, Murder by Death, Man Man, and The Beatles, Lydian Gray blends many genres into what some consider "cabaret punk". Their original repertoire explores everything from classical and tango to swing and rockabilly. The members are Dyami Clement, age 17 (vocals, piano, guitar, synth), Pecos Singer, age 16 (cello, piano), Ben Toledo, age 18 (bass guitar), and Sean Chavez, age 17 (drums).

Clement and Singer grew up two-houses down the street from one another, so one could say that Lydian Gray began when the two eight-year-olds first picked up their respective instruments. Ben Toledo joined them in the spring of '07, followed by Chavez a few months later.

Since their debut, Lydian Gray has performed in many venues, attracting a large and diverse crowd to all of their shows. After their third gig, they were asked to headline the International Folk Art Museum's 4th Annual Music Festival. In February, 2008, they began work on "Lydian Gray". This self-produced, ten-track album was recorded and mixed at Stepbridge Studios, and officially released on June 18th, 2008.

Lydian Gray is preparing to depart on a tour of the western states in late July, to promote their new album and cultivate a stronger non-local fan base.
