Lyman Ellerman & Crew is a 4-Piece, Americana/Outlaw Country band that you're going to want to know about. Lyman is one of the premier Americana songwriters currently in the genre, and an accomplished vocalist and guitar player. Each member is "best of the best" with regard to their chosen instruments. Every song you hear them play will be as good or better than the studio version. Real pros, that start on time, play a 2-2.5 hour show, with one break. No drugs, and no drunks on stage, ever.

Biography

Lyman Ellerman & Crew are currently touring as a 4-piece band, consisting of Lyman Ellerman, Jason Morgan, Jim George, and Jerry Padron, promoting Lyman's latest 7th and latest CD, "I Wish I Was A Train". They are performing several tunes off the new CD, as well as an assortment from some of his previously released CDs. This is not a cover band, but they may occasionally do a "classic" cover, like "Fire On The Mountain", by George McCorkle/Marshall Tucker. Lyman and George were pals, and shared the stage on a number of occasions before George passed away. Depending on the venue, and the crowd, Lyman does a version in memorial to George that typically blows folks away.

These guys are all veteran professionals, that alternate between working as "studio/session players" , and "touring members of pro bands". They never fail to deliver a killer live performance. Rehearsals for this tour have been going on since June. The result is one incredibly tight band, that will blow your audience away. If you're booking Americana or Outlaw Country bands/artists, you'll want to seriously consider booking these guys pronto. They will not disappoint, and there's about a 99% chance you'll want them back in short order.

Lyrics

I Wish I Was A Train

Written By: Lyman Ellerman,C Werner

I've been a rider on the road of life a fighter
For the things I felt were right and sometimes wrong
I hung in like a champion and let go like a coward
When I looked around and saw I stood alone
And I learn from the breaks and countless mistakes
And there's some things I still don't understand
I guess it's just another story through the eyes of an ordinary man

Sometimes I wish I was a train
Pulling memories and mothers outlaws and lovers
I could disconnect the pleasure from the pain
And I wouldn't care a thing about the rain
Sometimes I wish I was a train

I've bore the souls of misfits been as good as it gets
I've seen sides of me I never should have seen
I broke out of my prisons fought off indecision and stood on grass that wasn't all that green
And I fell for unseen treasurers there's no way to measure all I've lost running down a dream
I guess the cuts in life are never quite as shallow as they seem

Sometimes I wish I was a train
Pulling memories and mothers outlaws and lovers
I could disconnect the pleasure from the pain
And I wouldn't care thing about the rain
Sometimes I wish I was a train

I could roll it all the way down some cold steel track
Let that lonesome whistle blow through the dark and I ain't coming back

Sometimes I wish I was a train
Pulling memories and mothers outlaws and lovers
I could disconnect the pleasure from the pain
And I wouldn't care thing about the pouring rain
Sometimes I wish I was a train
Sometimes I wish I was a train

The Addict

Written By: Lyman Ellerman,Larry Brake

Call me an addict
I've been doing this for years
Just old habit
You're not the first to interfere
I say hooked ain't so bad in my book
I'm just run down tired and empty

You want to help me
But I don't think you can
You see the shell
But you can't see the man
I'm like a ghost in your eyes I am lost
I'm still here but I'm somewhere else

There's no easy way to tell you how it feels
To be tangled up and twisted like me
It's not like I'm the only one
Who's ever thought nothing's wrong when nothing's right
Do you get what I mean
I don't know if I'm still hiding or fighting or lying anymore

The absence of my fear
You try so hard to understand
Through this stained glass reflection
Of where I've been and who I am

There's no easy way to tell you how it feels
To be tangled up and twisted like me
It's not like I'm the only one
Who's ever thought nothing's wrong when nothing's right
Can you see what I mean
I don't know if I'm still fighting or lying for dying anymore

Bigger Plans

Written By: Lyman Ellerman

Get up on your high horses
Hide your money in your coats
And stare down your noses
At the needy below

Count your friends by their fortunes
The pompous proud elite
Bound and chained to their treasures
Shackled to their feet

The thunder and the lightning and the pedestals of time
They're going to shake down your mansions they're gonna rattle your minds
Foundations will crumble just like castles in the sand
But you'll never see them coming if you're busy making bigger plans

When you tally your possessions
What will they buy you on that day
Will your prominence and stature
Keep you free from harm's way

When those arrows of fire start flying
And they're aimed straight and true
When justice is served up
Where will it find you

The thunder and the lightning and the pedestals of time
They're going to shake down your mansions they're gonna rattle your minds
Foundations will crumble just like castles in the sand
But you'll never see it coming if you're busy making bigger plans
