"lynden review"

Lynden is a new duo featuring beautiful pop with some acoustic elements and great harmony vocals.
"Pieces Vol.1" is a 9-track album released early 2006 with 5 tracks along with a few acoustic versions of some of these tracks plus a remix of the ballad "Gone".
The lead track and the upbeat "First time" is going very well as a purchase download at burnlounge.com beating out Madonna's new single, I think it will be just a matter of time before these boys will get signed to a major label.
With movie score soundtrack alike string arrangements, a melancholic mood and story telling lyrics - Lynden is a band to reckon with.
The opening track "I'm on fire" is an outstanding pop pearl. Listen to it and you'll get one new reason why to love music.
I thought at first that the first 3 tracks were a bit stronger than the last two but now I have started to like the almost sad ballad "Better" that closes the EP plus the previous track "Gone" that rises like a flower in the spring snow.

"lynden review"

Formed in 2002 in Nashville, USA the band lynden has released their debut EP "Pieces Vol. 1" recently...a very good lead singer...the included songs are very impressive, such as "First Time (You Were Mine)" and "I'm On Fire". The band has a catchy radio-ready sound, which should gain them exposure in the USA for sure. In the meantime, check out their site at www.lyndenmusic.com

"Frontburner Article"

For the rock band lynden, not having a major record deal is no problem. "A lot of people have questions aboutl lynden signing with a record label," said Matt Butler, cellist and keyboardist for the band. "That¹s still desirable, but through BurnLounge we are finding out that we are not so dependent on that, and we got a lot going without a label. Eventually we will look toward partnering with somebody, but right now, we realize we don¹t have to, thanks to BurnLounge."

Indeed, this three-year old band and BurnLounge retailer has recently been making waves in the music community. After having been voted the fans¹ favorite artist at BurnLounge Fired Up!, in Las Vegas, lynden went on to become the first independent artist to reach the number one spot on FrontBurner¹s "Hottest Downloads: Top Tracks" list, while also holding five of the other eight spots.

"It¹s been a pretty overwhelming experience, to have our fan base pick up on those singles and to have an album that you can go download through our BurnLounge," Coury Palermo, vocalist for lynden said, "to be honest, it¹s been a 'pinch me I¹m dreaming' kind of year to realize that off our first effort we¹ve had some unbelievable success. To have that kind of outlet right off the bat is pretty great."

In addition to success via BurnLounge, the band has also found the interest of television network CBS, who licensed four tracks, "First Time," "Gone," "I¹m on Fire" and "Better," off of their EP, "Pieces Vol. 1," for Fall promos.

While BurnLounge has helped bring this indie band to the mainstream, it was partly the cutting-edge accessibility of the music to their fans that made lynden first become a retailer. "BurnLounge¹s first appeal was how accessible the Internet was going to be, for us, to get our music out there," Butler said. "That was definitely the biggest draw. But everything about BurnLounge really has helped us out and makes sense to us, so we are excited about the whole concept. But right now it was the fact that we are indie. We don¹t have a deal to get our music out there like Madonna or Gorillaz.

"It¹s great to be involved with a company from the beginning that is really changing the way music buyers get music," Palermo added. ³We saw a chance to be a part of something that was a first.

"We¹ve learned from MySpace, through comments and e-mails, that our fans think that it¹s great that they don¹t have to wait four or five days to get our CD in the mail. They can go right now, and download the songs they like," Palermo stated. "Anytime you have that digital outlet, it¹s a plus for the fans."

While enjoying their current success, lynden has already started working on their second record. "If anybody would have told us within six months we¹d have 20,000 fans on our MySpace page, I would never have believed it," Palermo said. "It¹s been a wild ride."

Bio

lynden began as a melodic rock duo in the summer of 2003. Coury Palermo (vocals) & Matt Butler (cello/keys) met and became fast friends. Both had recently moved to Nashville to pursue music – Coury as a singer/songwriter and Matt as a touring musician. “I think we had a huge respect for each other (musically) but were so busy doing our own “thing” that working together never even crossed our minds”, said Matt. That soon changed. While working with another musician, Coury asked Matt to join several of the songwriting sessions - soon after lynden was born.
Over the next year and a half the duo wrote, recorded & played... trying to solidify their brand of melodic soulful rock... “we are by no means reinventing the wheel... just trying to put a different spin on it.” From the recent response to their debut EP it looks like they are beginning to do just that.
After two long years of trial & error, lynden debuted their first album “pieces vol. I” in 2006. Recorded in Nashville and Atlanta under the production of producer/musician Charles Judge, the record draws from rock, electronica & soul to show the first step in this young band’s ongoing evolution. Since the initial digital only release (burnlounge.com/lynden) in January, the EP has scored two number 1 downloads: “first time (you were mine)” and “better,” and a Top 3 ,“I’m on fire,” while continuing to win over fans worldwide.
Now in the early stages of their follow up album, lynden is expanding their sound to show growth only ‘the road’ can bring. The material is a mixture of what fans were drawn to, with a renewed energy that promises to bring a whole new audience to the table. “This record is a reflection of where we are in life. I think it’s a more accurate portrayal of all things lynden”, says Matt. “The main difference is the writing approach. ‘pieces’ was very much a labor of love”, says Coury, “we had not done a huge amount of touring so there was no “band” in place for the studio process. This time around we are writing in the moment… as a band. Chris (drums), Evan (guitars) and Jono (bass) have become much more than our “road mates”. We are moving forward together." This is lynden.
