"Lynn Drury"

Lynn Drury and Bad Mayo: Spun (Independent)
“New Orleans hasn’t had an intelligent sexy singer-songwriter in quite some time, and Spun’s literate take on love’s dilemmas is incredibly refreshing for a city inundated with the usual songs about Mardi Gras morning, crawfish and declarations of one’s own funkiness.”

"Lynn Drury @ Kerry Irish Pub"

"I was taken aback with the beauty of her voice. Drury's powerful, Mississippi-honed voice has a sort of soulful, burnished twang (similar to Lucinda Williams) tempered with that same southern sweet sincerity that makes Nora Jones so appealing. One of the strongest performances that I've heard all summer."

"Road Warrior"

New Orleans singer-songwriter Lynn Drury doesn't come to town often, so if you want to catch her, now's the time. It takes more than a little something to stand out in the hometown crowd, but Drury has managed to make a name for herself, and it looks like the best is yet to come. She's got three albums of what could be described as countrified roots rock – but only if you use the term loosely. Her most recent album, Spun (Mothership Entertainment), shows she's absorbed all the musical elements that energize the funkiest city on Earth and turned it into a sound that highlights nothing less than her soulful self. She's in town for a pair of gigs; check her out, and five years from now, you'll be able to tell folks you saw her way back when. (J.H. Tompkins. June 2004) - Bay Guardian - San Francisco

Bio

Lynn Drury is a Mississippi Delta native turned New Orleans songstress and now hangs her hat in Memphis TN thanks to that damned ol' storm, Katrina. She has recorded 4 albums in the past 5 years and shared the stage with Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and Leon Russell. She grew up on old-tyme country, but cannot deny the insatiable urge to rock. She's penned the genre "twang 'n groove, " which seems to fit her sound perfectly. Flanked by some of the most sought after musicians, Lynn's songs range from ethereal country to straight-up rock 'n roll.

She received the "best emerging artist" award by Offbeat Magazine in 2004 and has played the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for 5 years running. She continues to tour the country playing festivals and spreading her unique sound to avid fans.
