Biography

Lynne Taylor

One thing is certain; Lynne Taylor has a sound and spirit all her own!

As the daughter of a folk musician and a poet, Lynne grew up in the sixties and seventies, and absorbed the social consciousness of that time. She began writing her own music at the age of fourteen, and has been performing professionally ever since. Lynne’s music is characterized by poignant, honest songwriting combined with a powerful, contemporary vocal style and unique piano accompaniment. As well as being a staple in her adopted hometown of Newburyport, MA, she has been performing professionally across the eastern US since 1985.
At the present time, Lynne is focusing most of her creative energy as a solo performer, often accompanied by her longtime partner in crime, guitarist Scott Solsky, however Lynne is also involved in several other projects that happen to be from quite opposite ends of the musical spectrum. She plays upright bass in her family’s bluegrass band, Fishcreek, and rocks out occasionally with her newest “intelligent alternative” rock band, Rantic.
Lynne released a self-produced solo CD entitled, Grace in 1996 and Rantic released their self-titled CD in 2001. Fishcreek has released 2 CD’s, Cascade in 1998, and Up Fishcreek Without a Paddle in 2002. A new Lynne Taylor solo CD is in the works; slated for release in summer of 2003.

"A gifted songwriter with powerful vocals and style that simply doesn't fit into any specific genre...

Lynne takes the listener on an intense emotional journey that spans the spectrum of human existence...

each songs smacks of truth...
often the truths we don't want to look at..."

Set List

I play of all original material drawing heavily from the CDs listed above, with the addition of several newer songs and some traditional folk as well. My preferred set is an hour long, but can be adjusted shorter or longer (up to 3 sets of 45 mins) to meet the needs of the venue.
