"Premiere: Lyon Apprentice - 'Alice'"

Lyon Apprentice left the Australian Gold Coast behind, seeking out something new, something different.
What they found was Manchester. The duo are based in the city, firmly implanted in its music scene but still retaining their Australian identity.
New cut 'Alice' epitomises their journey. Downcast synth-pop that contains an inner glow, it owes its inspirational to an inspirational true story.
Adam states: "Alice was a 92 year-old patient of mine when I worked as an exercise physiologist. We became good friends. She often told stories of her late husband’s experiences in WWII as an RAF Lancaster bomber pilot and how he died of cancer five years after the war ended, leaving her with four children. Reflecting on her marriage, she once told me ‘when I feel this way, I learn to walk on’ and the line stuck with me. Perseverance is a quality I admire and my conversations with Alice always left me humbled, grateful and inspired." - CLASH

"LYON APPRENTICE TEACH US TO PERSEVERE WITH ‘ALICE’ [STREAM]"

Lyon Apprentice are back with “Alice”, their latest release since their 2014 EP Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free. The song is percussive and guitar heavy, but also harkens back to the band’s folky roots by incorporating strong harmonies and a thoughtful narrative. Based on Alice, a 92 year-old patient Adam worked with, the story meditates on losing a loved one and the power of perseverance. In Adam’s own words: “She often told stories of her late husband’s experiences in WWII as an RAF Lancaster bomber pilot and how he died of cancer five years after the war ended, leaving her with four children. Reflecting on her marriage, she once told me ‘when I feel this way, I learn to walk on’ and the line stuck with me. Perseverance is a quality I admire and my conversations with Alice always left me humbled, grateful, and inspired.” - The Wild Honey Pie

"Sounds like: Escapists, Oh Wonder, Of Monsters And Men, Yoke Lore"

After almost two years of silence, Australian artist Lyon Apprentice reemerge with the beautiful dream-pop track "Alice." Now based in Manchester, their relocation has also prompted a slight change of sound.

Infusing the storytelling element of their folk roots with dreamy guitar melodies and soft percussion, the new single has a sound as peaceful and uplifting as the story that inspired it.

"Alice" is dedicated to a 92-year-old woman who developed a friendship with the duo. She'd often share stories of her late husband and imparted her way of coping with adversity on them. The lyric "when I feel this way, I learn to walk on" is a direct quote from Alice, emphasizing the need to move forward and persevere through hard times.

With minimal production, Lyon Apprentice communicate their message with grace and honesty. There is a certain joy that comes out of sorrow, and this track epitomizes that feeling.

Give them a like on Facebook and look out for future releases from the duo. - Indie Shuffle

"Stream Lyon Apprentice’s New Single “Alice”"

Australian duo Lyon Apprentice have returned with their exhilarating new track, “Alice” – a minimalist, dream-pop tribute to a longtime friend and the husband she lost. The single was recorded in the brothers’ new home studio in Manchester and mixed/produced by singer/guitarist Adam Lyons. ‘Alice’ sees Lyon Apprentice shuffling off their folk roots and embracing synth-driven, percussive production. - BLDGWLF

"[LISTEN] Lyon Apprentice - Alice"

The Australian duo - currently based in Manchester - have revealed a brand new track in the shape of "Alice". The brothers' latest track is a bit more folkier than their previous tracks, with an underlying synth that's just huge and gives the track an extra layer to pick at. With some lovely guitars intertwining with light -strings-like synths.

I've certainly played this more than the once today, stream it just below! - It's All Indie

"TRACK OF THE DAY: Lyon Apprentice ‘Alice’"

Memories are powerful, acting as vivid recalls of the past. They can leave us wounded at the thought of a painful moment, and equally, joyful at the recollection of a happy moment. We each have our own safe havens that we return to, as we comb back through out past, from the people we’ve met to the places we’ve been, and we can feel these defining moments just as deeply in retrospect. This is where Lyon Apprentice’s new track ‘Alice’ takes inspiration.

The track is graced by crisp synth-pop production, punctuated with sharp rhythmic bursts of guitar and driving percussion, but it’s not quick to rely on a minimalist approach, rather the attention is directed towards a more resounding heartfelt message.

Singer/guitarist Adam Lyons explains: “Alice was a 92 year-old patient of mine when I worked as an exercise physiologist. Perseverance is a quality I admire and my conversations with Alice always left me humbled, grateful and inspired.”

Lyon Apprentice deliver nostalgic poignancy on ‘Alice’ but it is within an unyielding strength that they find true resonance.

Lyon Apprentice play Manchester’s Soup Kitchen on Friday 29th April. - Bitter Sweet Symphonies

"LISTEN | New single ‘Alice’ from Lyon Apprentice"

Aussie duo Lyon Apprentice have released the first track since their debut EP was released two years ago with ‘Alice’.

The track uses subtle beats with atmospheric synths to create a dream-pop sound, a clear signal that Lyon Apprentice have moved away from their folk beginnings. Originally from Australia’s gold coast, brothers Adam and Nathan Lyon moved to Manchester last year to continue with their music and expand their own record label Canvas Sounds, resulting in a change of direction which new single ‘Alice’ showcases. - Never Enough Notes

"SONG PICK: Lyon Apprentice – Alice"

“Alice” by Manchester, UK via Australia sibling-duo Lyon Apprentice (Adam and Nathan Lyons) is not ‘yet’ another song about a woman named Alice, but it is a tribute to Adam’s long time friend, whom he met while working as a physiologist and who told him about her marriage and having lost her husband. The story in the lyrics is sad and hopeful at once, and the “I can’t ignore it” part is hypnotic and catchy. “Alice” is a beautifully dreamy synth-pop song, with minimalist arrangements and our Song Pick of the Day. - glamglare

"Lyon Apprentice Releases Debut EP"

Australian duo Lyon Apprentice are set to release their debut EP, titled Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free. Lyon Apprentice's new EP Be Honest, Be Wild Be, Free is out on Friday April 4 through Canvas Sounds. - The Brag

"Lyon Apprentice: Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free"

Why do taxes even exist? I have to leave my hermit hole to redo my 2010 taxes because I missed one little paper…before I go pay Uncle Sam nothing he deserves, I thought I’d write down my thoughts on Lyon Apprentice’s Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free, an album that’s fit for the mature 20-somethings out there who might hang with the music connoisseurs out there who are barely over 30 and like their pop rock with a sense of clarity and refinement.

“I Will Find You” is probably their strongest song as it showcases all parts of their well oiled machine off like a museum piece on tour. It’s soft, sweet and captivating from start to finish. As “Be Careful” rolls in you might get A Great Big World vibe – and yes, that’s based off the one hit they’ve had (and may ever have…). While those are prime examples of what Lyon Apprentice is capable of, I leaned towards the simpler “Beautiful Thought.” It reminded me of The Office’s Pam Halpert; minimalism of beauty.

As the tax time comes closer, I cringe at the thought of having to give up the pennies I make – but at least I can come home to songs like “Beautiful Thought” and escape those woes. If you’re into music that’s got a backbone, check out Lyon Apprentice’s Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free, out April 4th. - Golden Mixtape

"Lyon Apprentice – Beautiful Thought"

Lyon Apprentice have released their delicate and emotional debut track called ‘Beautiful Thought‘. Lyon Apprentice, made up of the two Lyon brothers have done a fantastic job on their debut single. ‘Beautiful Though’ is underpinned with brooding emotional vibes and delicate guitar chords that combine to really hit the spot. However, once the mellow harmonies join the chorus of instrumentation, it makes ‘Beautiful Thought’ absolutely irresistible. Fans of Elliott Smith and Bon Iver will be especially excited, with a distinct similarity in the low tempo and deep lyrics, sure to earn them many fans. With a debut EP due out later this year, expect to hear much more from brotherly duo Lyon Apprentice. - Aussie Playlist

"REVIEW | LYON APPRENTICE – BEAUTIFUL THOUGHT"

Chiming guitars and haunting drums. The first single off Lyon Apprentice’s awaited EP has dropped. “Beautiful Thought” is exactly what it is entitled, the song has been so well chimed together, from the bright guitars to the almost haunting drums, this track really gets you singing a long without realizing. The vocals are so uplifting and you are mesmerized from the very first line.

A solid first release for these guys with the rest of the EP ‘Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free’ to due to be released later this year. - adamNOTeve

“Be Careful” by Lyon Apprentice is the Joey Voodoo Song of the Day. This is the third single off their debut EP Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free out now on iTunes! - Joey Voodoo

"Launchbox: Lyon Apprentice"

For fans of Bon Iver, Daughter and James Vincent McMorrow…

Lyon Apprentice are a slick Indie Folk duo of brothers hailing from Australia.

Singles ‘Beautiful Thought’ and ‘I Will Find You’ have brought them satisfactory success up to now, but it’s bound to be minor in comparison to what the forthcoming EP, ‘Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free’ will bring for Adam and Nathan.

Flooded with tracks of a mystic warmth and sheer melodic grace, the whole EP is a beautiful round up of what these guys are about. Latest single ‘I Will Find You’ is a real mellow creation for the most part, holding streaks of an upbeat Indie spark throughout.

‘Letters To Nowhere’ is quite possibly the one to showcase the appeal of this band more than any other. Crisp, clear vocals, and a flowing melody carrying tender, earnest lyrics in its course – spot on.

Definitely a Fortitude band to watch for this year. - Fortitude Magazine

"New EP – Lyon Apprentice “Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free”"

We get excited every time we hear incredible music coming out Australia. Lyon Apprentice is an Australian brother duo made up of Adam & Nathan Lyons. They create incredible indie folk music. If we could describe it anything you might know then think Lord Huron, Death Cab for Cutie, Daughter and The Middle East.
So we’re listening to Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free by these Australian brothers and loving it. Here are the first three tracks off the EP. - Drop Your Drink

"REVIEW LYON APPRENTICE’S: BE HONEST, BE WILD, BE FREE"

The ambience found throughout Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free is intoxicating, much like Jeff Buckley’s Grace. But the vocals contained seem to fit snugly between Of Monsters and Men and Matt Corby.

I Will Find You breaks open the EP with a catchy chorus, and even a brass composition in the bridge. Every instrument plays its part in creating the mood and enveloping your mind in the sweet sounds of melancholia and loss. The EP continues this theme with the track Be Careful, sporting emotive key progressions and faultless vocal melodies all lathered in reverb. Cymbals shimmer and fade throughout the track, and it is clear that this EP was carefully composed. An acoustic track ensues titled Beautiful Thought. This minimalistic track boasts gentle melodies and echoes. Twinkles of keys coupled with synthetic drums kick off the second last track, Castles In The Sky, and this composition is much more like an Alt-J track than Of Monsters and Men. The layers of vocals near the close of this track is an aspect of this song that will definitely transfer well into a live situation. Letters to Nowhere is the longest track of the EP coming in at just over five minutes, sharing a similar minimalistic sound with Be Careful. This track is the brightest musically, however lyrically it seems almost the darkest.

Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free is a strong EP, with every track carefully designed. The first three tracks are powerful and emotive, with the other two slightly lacking the same level of emotional strength. This is a strong release by a local Gold Coast band. - Black GC

"L is for Lyon Apprentice"

Where? Sound Gallery at Marriott Lounge (535 Bay St.)
When? 8th May 2014.
This three piece - a side project of sorts for the brothers from Fairchild - bring forth intimate, yet anthemic tunes. Quite layered, too, considering it's just keys, guitars and drums. They switch up positions throughout the set as they churned through tracks such as the stunning "Be Careful" and the rockin' "Castles in the Sky". A keyboard death caused a bit of difficulties for the group at the end of the set, but they powered through and impressed the crowd. "I Will Find You" closed out the show. - The AU Review

"Australian Duo You Should Know About"

Introducing Lyon Apprentice. Brothers Adam and Nathan Lyons have released their music video for their single “Be Careful” and it is beautiful. The song is so calming and perfect if you’re into indie folk. If you like Of Monsters and Men, you’ll like these guys. “Be Careful” is their third single off their EP Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free that was released earlier this month. If you’re into them, you’re in luck because they are playing two shows for Canadian Music Week. - Best Fan

"ALBUM REVIEW: Lyon Apprentice ‘Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free’"

When reviewing bands and music from a different country, there’s always an unknown about what to truly expect. You get a glimpse into ideas and arrangements that aren’t necessarily used in the country in which you live.

Music is universal, but technique can sometimes be regional. While you won’t find any didgeridoos or talk of kangaroos and giant spiders on Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free, by Australian brother duo Lyon Apprentice, you will find a more laid back take on a very popular genre, indie folk.

I personally have never been a huge follower of indie or folk music, so to take on the task of reviewing an EP that combines the two was a bit daunting. But in the end, I was glad I did. Lyon Apprentice don’t throw either genre in your face with any of the five tracks on the EP, but you get a taste of how each genre influenced the songs. They ease you into each song, and make you comfortable with the feelings and ideas they are setting forth.

The songs have a beautiful simplicity, and very few instruments are used throughout the EP. I believe I counted four – guitar, piano, drums, and horns. The vocals are truly what carry the EP from song to song. Adam and Nathan Lyons harmonize so perfectly that, at times, it is hard to differentiate between the two. One has a slightly deeper tone to his voice, but unless you were aware of there being two vocalists prior to listening, it goes almost unnoticed.

Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free opens with the track “I Will Find You.” The song is heartbreaking, yet so beautiful. I love the tempo progression in this song. It starts off slow, and continues to build and build until the very end. Horns are introduced towards the end of the song, and it brings a whole new element to the track. My first thought upon hearing this track was it was mildly similar to songs by Snow Patrol.

My favorite track on the EP is “Be Careful.” The opening is very eerie. There is a piano being pounded on in the distance that progressively improves and gets louder as the intro moves along. The chorus is strong, yet simple. It consists of a steady drum beat and repetitive piano chords. You get a sense of protection and compassion during the chorus. The line “I get why you’re staying, but while you’re here, be careful,” is a prime example of the worry the narrator feels. The listener is guided through a haunted setting and you’re left with a feeling of loss at the end. This track really knows how to manipulate your senses.

The rest of the EP is just as powerful and emotion provoking. The song “Beautiful Thought” includes layered vocals, with each brother singing different lyrics at the same time. This isn’t an unheard of concept, but in doing this, you get to hear each vocalist and it adds depth to the song.

“Castles in the Sky” takes the EP in a totally different direction. It opens with a more electronic sound, obviously created by a synth, which continues throughout the song. I found that to be a really interesting element to bring into the mix. It definitely added a modern twist to the genre.

The final track, “Letters to Nowhere,” has such a visual intro. It paints an image instrumentally, that rivals the opening of a new scene in a movie. The instruments gradually fade into range just opening up the song to the listener. The vocals come from a place of pain, and you feel it deep in your soul. Your heart aches listening to the hurt being portrayed. To have this track closing out the EP was a bold and perfect choice. It definitely leaves an impression and you get one last taste of how talented – purely and magnificently talented – these two are.

I’ve always appreciated bands that are able to write songs that stray from a typical, easy going love song. To me, love is easy to write about. Everyone has felt love in one way or another. But to take the concept of love and transform it into something new, just like Adam and Nathan Lyons have done with the tracks on Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free, is a sign of true talent. - Infectious Magazine

"Lyon Apprentice Unveil "Be Careful" Music Vid"

The Australian brother duo known as Lyon Apprentice have just released their music video for the song "Be Careful". The clip was directed by RICO and it's the third single off their debut EP "Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free" which was released digitally earlier this month via Canvas Sounds, the fine purveyors of quality music from the land Down Under. The disc was helmed by Mark Myers and mixed by Catherine Marks who also worked with acts such as Foals and Death Cab For Cutie, and the essence of those aforementioned artists can be found in plentiful amounts throughout the effort that completely evokes the style and image that the duo was aiming for in the studio, and fully realizes their artistic and creative vision as well.

The guys will be making their way stateside in the U.S. with stops planned in New York at Rockwood Music Hall and in Los Angeles at The Hotel Cafe on May 11 and May 17 respectively. - MusicBoxPete

"Be Careful"

Lyon Apprentice's "Be Careful" from their debut EP, Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free, has a refreshingly full composition, warm vocals, and lyrics which make the track so easy to fall for. The slightly discordant and echoing piano at the beginning gives way to comfortingly steady chords and a gorgeous melody that's pushed forward by an urgent rhythm and fantastic lyrics like "hold my hand, like it is cold, like it's worth melting" and "there's no way of knowing what.. comes your way, but I'll keep trying". The track is fantastic enough that I'm tempted to start throwing around superlatives in an effort to adequately describe this superb composition and great lyrics; it's sweet and melancholy with rich vocals and unabashedly honest lyrics that support an amazing piano melody and I can't get enough of these brother's tracks. Get the EP from iTunes now and head to the websites to find out more about the band. - The Music Rag

"FINDS: LYON APPRENTICE – “BE CAREFUL”"

Lyon Apprentice formed at the beginning of 2013 and are an Australian brother duo made up of Adam and Nathan Lyons. Growing up in north Queensland before moving to the Gold Coast, the duo create indie-folk tracks that are emotive and beautifully composed. They released their debut EP ‘Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free’ on April 4th via Canvas Sounds/Believe Digital. “Be Careful” is the third single taken from the EP, and the band have just released a brand new video directed by RICO to accompany the track.

“Be Careful” is led with subtle percussion and a delicate piano melody that builds up to chunky chords merged with simplistic riffs. The power of the prolonged vocal notes is impressive as the track begins to transform into the heavier chorus which is fuelled by passion and met with force. The verses are mellow and the soundscapes are tight, while the vocals are eloquently delivered and lyrically engaging. If anything I would say this is more indie-inspired that folk infused but the influences are there. One thing to note about this track however is that it’s simple, but in the best of ways. Lyon Apprentice have not tried to break boundaries and have kept to what they know, but in doing so they have over performed on such simplistic track creating something that is undeniably beautiful and soothing to listen to. Approaching their sound with such melodic grace that it is almost effortless, they have created an easy-listening essence that couldn’t be taught. - Mistree Magazine

"Lyon Apprentice // I Will Find You // Be Careful"

Apart from just having a simply awesome name, this duo is creating some music that has some serious swooning power. We have been swooned. Hailing from the Gold Coast, yes Australia – you did it again, brothers Adam & Nathan impress us with their flawless indie folk melodies. Our favorite ‘I Will Find You’ takes a twist on the folk genre, and we sort of found ourselves toe tapping. Do people do that anymore? Even more impressive: they’ve supported one of our absolute favorites Bear’s Den. Even more exciting: they are coming to LA on May 17th & performing at The Hotel Cafe. We will be there.

‘Be Careful’ comes off of their EP ‘Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free’ that was recently released on April 4th. - Elevenation

"New Video: Lyon Apprentice – Be Careful"

The prettiest song to grace my inbox belongs to Australian brother duo Lyon Apprentice. ‘ I heard “Be Careful” a while back and am glad to see that a video has been released to accompany the track. The most beautiful song has an elegant and well produced video to match. Lyon Apprentice are heading on tour soon and are playing Toronto on May 7th. - Cut From Steel

"Lyon Apprentice - "Be Careful""

As often happens, I’ve been in a funk lately. Not much new music is inspiring me, hence the lack of album reviews. However, one song has been giving me hope in the last 48 hours. “Be Careful” from the Australian group Lyon Apprentice is pretty much the closest thing to perfect I’ve heard in months. Delicate piano? Check. Nuanced guitar-work? Check. Relatable yet insightful lyrics? Mmhm. A swelling chorus? It's got that too.

"Be Careful" is the third single off their debut EP Be Wild, Be Free, co-produced by Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise) and mixed by Catherine Marks (Foals, Death Cab for Cutie).

To be fair, I have very limited knowledge of Lyon Apprentice, but holy wow, this track is a beast. - Absolute Punk

"ALIVE & KICKING"

The year has kicked off and the gigs are coming in thick and fast. A relatively low key event, this stripped down acoustic affair showcased Gold Coast brother act, Lyon Apprentice, as they made their debut appearance in Singapore.

Lyon Apprentice aka the Lyons brothers were next with Adam and Nathan a decidedly distinctive proposition from the bouncy indie pop of main band Fairchild. Their oeuvre is expansive, intimate and emotionally powerful with the brothers complemented each other vocally as well. Opening with the fragile “Be Careful”, the duo armed itself with atmospheric, innovative song arrangements which made the music bigger than their two-piece set had any right to suggest. The other highlight of the short set was the heartfelt “I Will Find You”. Look out for the debut Lyon Apprentice coming out soon! - Power Of Pop

"Lyon Apprentice presents "I Will Find You""

Brothers Adam and Nathan Lyons have created something amazing. Going by the name Lyon Apprentice, you have to hear their incredible, uplifting tune "I Will Find You". We will keep you posted with more, these guys are great. - Fingers on Blast

"Introducing Lyon Apprentice"

I’m not ashamed to admit that I am a sucker for indie folk. Lyon Apprentice are my newest obsession, but not solely because they are masters of that particular genre. There is a magic to their songs that I mainly attribute to the duo being brothers. Nathan and Adam Lyons have an amazing connection within their music that has clearly been built over their years of friendship and brotherhood together. Expect lingering and gentle vocals against delicate guitar and percussion that create the sound that defines Lyon Apprentice.

Lyon Apprentice have released two tracks from their upcoming EP, Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free that is set for release in early 2014. These Queensland brothers cannot be faulted so far, both Beautiful Thought and I Will Find You are melodic and heart-wrenching tracks that promise a pretty a pretty amazing record. The duo jetted off to Cairns earlier this year to work with Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise) for the EP, which was then mixed by the wonderful Catherine Marks (Foals, Interpol) at Assault and Battery Studios in London. Some seriously talented individuals have been involved in the making of this record, which is unsurprising considering the raw talent that these bros display. They are creating an extremely refined version of indie folk that will appeal to fans of Daughter, Bon Iver and City and Colour. When I first heard them, it took me a while to cross off all of the artists they reminded me of. Don’t let this deter you – they aren’t recycled or expected- their tracks are infused with their own unique sound whilst hinting to inspiration from other great artists.

Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free will be a five-track EP that I am willing to bet will be bordering on perfection from beginning to end. The experience of growing up together is clearly one that defines the sound of Lyon Apprentice and will be a consistent theme within their debut EP. They are currently wrapping up some dates for the single launch of the haunting track, I Will Find You, so if you’re a Queensland kid make sure you catch them at the Loft this Friday the 29th of November. Make the most of the intimate gigs before the boys in Lyon Apprentice blow up in the new year! - Happy

"Lyon Apprentice ~ I Will Find You!"

The best songs tell a personal story we can all relate to. Whether it be about the struggles we face in life or a special memory we want to relive over again, there needs to be heartfelt emotion and real energy flowing just underneath the surface for me to really buy in. And that’s exactly what I hear when I listen to “I Will Find You” from Queensland brother duo LYON APPRENTICE. Substance. Words that can speak to me and stand on their own even if there is no music at all. “I Will Find You” tells a tale of an intense connection between two people I can envision and fully take grasp of. As the song builds, there is an air of happiness floating on the edges mixed with an overwhelming chill of impending sadness I can sense growing inside of me. Just like a musical tornado of feelings and passions, “I Will Find You” picks up more and more steam adding gorgeously ominous layers of piano, brass and percussive accents along the way. Only to explode in the end into one of the best sounding indie jam-like sessions I have heard all year.

"Lyon Apprentice - 'I Will Find You'"

I have a very strong suspicious about the brothers Adam & Nathan Lyons. It won't be long before these lads take on the music world under the name Lyon Apprentice. Mark my words. Drawing inspiration in the vast and deserted fields of their homeland - Australia, the guys have been circulating the Internet with their latest stupefying indie folk release called "I Will Find You" mixed by Catherine Marks (Foals, Interpol) .

The song will be part of their upcoming debut EP Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free which will be out early next year. Sounds like: Of Monsters And Men, The Head and the Heart, The Lumineers

Australia's Lyon Apprentice's single "I Will Find You" is a haunting indie folk song that will wrap you up in its proverbial blanket.

This track starts off with a beautiful guitar progression and drawn-out tonal background effects. Soon after, the song is accompanied by a piano and an infectious beat. It's the little effects within this song that make a big difference. The light tambourine and shaker is what adds that extra spice that helps accent the overall atmosphere of "I Will Find You." But wait, there's more! As the song progresses even further, there's a horn section and choral group that jumps right in and takes this track to a whole new epic level.

All in all, Lyon Apprentice is solid. Stay tuned for their upcoming EP, Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free, due for release in early 2014! - Indie Shuffle

"Lyon Apprentice Release New Single “I Will Find You”"

Lyon Apprentice, the Australian duo made up of brothers Adam and Nathan Lyons, have released their new single, “I Will Find You.” The song will be available on November 4th through The A&R Department.

They describe the song as “being both melodic and dramatically percussive.”

The band released their first single, “Beautiful Thought”, earlier this year. Both songs will appear on their five track EP “Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free” due for release in early 2014.

"LYON APPRENTICE – “I WILL FIND YOU”"

Growing up in North Queensland from a young age, brothers Adam and Nathan Lyons shared a common interest in music. Years later the duo have formed Lyon Apprentice, a moniker under which they are producing their own style of elegant folk. Earlier this year they travelled to Cairns to record their EP with Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise) and we now have a taste of what is to come.

As the delicate guitar gently breathes life into “I Will Find You”, it educes a great sense of familiarity which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The tender vocal track lingers across the atmospheric panorama until the galloping percussion and unexpected horn section elevate the track to a new climactic height that sounds one banjo short of belonging on a Mumford & Sons record.

The comparisons could continue, but that wouldn’t do service to the brothers. Artists well in their own right, Lyon Apprentice will look to make a name for themselves in the indie folk landscape with the release of their debut EP “Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free” early next year. We look forward to hearing what else the boys have to offer. - HillyDilly

"[NEW] Lyon Apprentice – I Will Find You"

“I Will Find You” is the follow-up to Lyon Apprentice’s debut single, “Beautiful Thought.” Both tracks will appear on the band’s Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free EP, which is due out in early 2014. The record was co-produced by Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise), mixed by Catherine Marks (Foals, Interpol), and recorded in London, far from their hometown of Gold Coast, Australia.
I hadn’t seen a picture of the boys before initially hearing them, but (and I’m not saying this to be douchey), I sensed that they were either family or best friends. Harmonies as tight as these only come from a lifetime of practice. The Lyon brothers, Nathan (25) and Adam (24), have shared stages with Big Scary, Glass Towers, and Cub Sport. - Don't Need No Melody

"[LISTEN] LYON APPRENTICE – “ALICE”"

Australian duo, Lyon Apprentice, have a rather exhilarating new track in the form of “Alice” to keep you buzzing for a while. Penned as a tribute to a longtime friend about her late husband, the track soars with mixtures of lush synths and soft vocals. - The Daily Listening

"STREAM: LYON APPRENTICE – “ALICE”"

It’s been almost two years since Australian duo Lyon Apprentice have released new music, but the wait is finally over. The band is back and have stepped away from the folk sound we loved from Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free.

“Alice” is a simple, synth-driven pop production and it pays tribute to a longtime friend, Alice, and her late husband.

The band had this to say about the song and where the inspiration for a particularly powerful lyric came from:

“Alice was a 92 year-old patient of mine when I worked as an exercise physiologist. Perseverance is a quality I admire and my conversations with Alice always left me humbled, grateful and inspired.” - Infectious Magazine

Bio

Australian duo, Lyon Apprentice have learnt to turn places into sounds. From creaky, howling folk music to emotional dream-pop, LA manage to distil the reminiscences of their changing homes into an ever-evolving, and carefully selected, back-catalogue of songs. Growing up in the sweltering bushland of Northern Queensland, brothers Adam & Nathan Lyons began learning the piano from a young age. The boys relocated to the glittering shores of the Gold Coast during their high school years and have since spent the last two years living in Manchester, UK.

Writing acoustic tracks initially as a side project, LA brought 15 demos to Big Sister Studios in Cairns to work with producer Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise) in 2013. This two week recording session became LA’s debut EP, Be Honest, Be Wild, Be Free, which was mixed by Catherine Marks (Foals, Death Cab For Cutie, Local Natives) in London.

After having scored opening slots for Cub Sport, Big Scary & Bear's Den, LA released their first single ‘Beautiful Thought’. Momentum continued into follow-up tracks 'I Will Find You' & 'Be Careful' with airplay on Triple J, attention from online tastemakers and international showcases at Canadian Music Week & Music Matters in Singapore. Their debut EP was released via their own label 'Canvas Sounds' in April 2014, where they continued to work on other projects with various artists.

In early 2016, LA recorded current single 'Alice' - a tribute to a longtime friend and the husband she lost. The track was produced & mixed by Adam in their Manchester home studio and saw them shuffling off their folk roots and embracing synth-driven, percussive production. Playing rare shows during their time in the UK, they supported the Alavarez Kings, Causes & performed at Dot 2 Dot Festival.

In the final month of their UK tenure, LA returned to the studio to write and record new material. These songs are woven from memory and experience, the summation of two chaotic years spent in the motherland, and will be released in the not too distance future.
