Bio
Upcoming triple-threat artist out of the Northern Va area, Ms. Jacy Calhoun has been singing since the young age of 4, starting out in Community Baptist Church Newport, RI. She took residence in Virginia in 1994. She found solace in writing poetry at 14 years old. She then found her love of writing song lyrics at the age of 16. Jacy then started recording and performing in 2000 with the Dynamic Hip-Hop Group Alliance. Her debut album for the streets "Life's Lessons" was completed in 2003. She also featured on the compilation album for Alliance Ent, "The Cometh" which was completed in 2004. Ms. Calhoun's next project was the sassy collaboration album "The Double Up" , with Asia Blaze (Lacey Hill) completed in 2006. She is currently working on an album entitled "Split Personality" which will feature two different genres, R&B and Hip-Hop. When asked what can she bring to the music industry, Jacy has been quoted saying the following: "I want my life experiences to be heard through my lyrics so that people can identify and learn from them. I strive to inspire the younger generation of young ladies growing up, that all things are possible with a little determination and dedication." Dabbling in all aspects of music whether its singing, rapping, recording, dancing, writing, performing, and now producing, she considers herself not only a savvy business woman but also a well rounded entertainer.
"My music influence list is so so long.. I have been inspired by so many people but I would have to say.. Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Mary J Blidge, Lauryn Hill, Faith Evans, Swv, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston.. There are so many great artists I can't possibly name them all!" .
"Vocally, I have been compared to Lauryn Hill, Monica, and Faith Evans. Far as my Hip-Hop side I haven't been compared to anyone." .
