"SPITTIN' IT OUT Woman deejay taking charge in male-dominated industry."

Byline: Aprill Brandon

Jun. 29--As a backup dancer in videos such as Juvenile's "She Get It From Her Momma," Yvette Gbalazeh started to notice that she was a better writer than a lot of the men she was around in the hip-hop industry. With an aggressive style and tough lyrics, the female rapper and deejay from Victoria has just released her second album and is opening for acts like Trina and Paul Wall.

But Lyris has had her fair share of obstacles on the road to success, including getting out of an abusive relationship … - VICTORIA ADVOCATE
