Bio

Take a little blend of Tupac's aggressive lyrics, add some technique and delivery of Twista, and you get just a taste of this young Midwest rapper. Utilizing eclectic genres of hip-hop, emo, and even punk, Lyrycyst is able to present his unparalleled style and combination of influences in his live performances. Far beyond the jumping on the stage and getting the audience to feel the beat ... lies the passionate and heart-driven message that Lyrycyst believes the world needs. "I want to change the way the world thinks of rap music, it's not all guns, sex, and drugs." quotes Lyrycyst.

LYRYCYST, born as Steven Cooper, grew up in Warrensburg, Missouri. Holding a creative niche for writing avid lyrics, Cooper quickly became nicknamed as "LYRYCYST." In high school before class, Lyrycyst would take in cruel remarks of never being able to make it from a group of "rappers" -and it was there, where he began his musical journey.

Featured on radio, television, and in many newspapers, Lyrycyst has received over 35,000 known downloads online and has performed live in front of hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. Some significant performances and airplay includes a national television performance for the INSP talent search, where Lyrycyst took first place in the 2003 season. Lyrycysts' fan base is still growing, and he has been performing non-stop for the past three years with amazing feedback. Lyrycyst also holds a warm spot touring with the Impact World Tour, which has been showcased in over 40 states in the U.S., and over 45 nations around the world. "American Dream," Lyrycysts' newest album, holds a concept that is almost three years in the making. Addressing specific subjects that America is facing today such as abortion, lust, poverty, violence, and drugs... it's all there.

Lyrycysts' future plans are continuing to share his positive message to anyone who will listen, by continuing his touring, and anticipating the release of his up and coming album, "American Dream," to be released in 2006.

"The unique simplicity of Lyrycyst, is that he allows his audience to relate to the subject at hand by not using profanity---yet still baring truth."

Lyrycyst has shared the stage with the following national acts;

Reliant K, Tech N9ne, Avalon, ZOEgirl, RJ Helton (from American Idol), Superchic[k], Sonicflood, Plus ONE, Todd Agnew, Building 429, John Reuben, Kids In The Way, The Swift, Staple, and many more.
