"A Pleasure to Work With"

"MacAdams has played a few shows through us, and always been a pleasure to work with. They work hard and have a strong following of fans. I strongly recommend them and think they would add a valuable component to any show or festival!" - Amy Cordy - BigTime Entertainment LLC

"MacAdams is Phish jamming with Rush while channeling Bad Finger"

"MacAdams is Phish jamming with Rush while channeling Bad Finger. Working with this trio was a dream come true for me: intelligent lyrics, awesome arrangements, and great songs played by passionate and accomplished musicians. This new album traces a beautiful arc between intimacy and aggression--a rare path that delighted me both as a producer and a fan." - Dan Workman - President, Sugar Hill Studios

"MacAdams Sets the Crowd on Fire"

"There is no way to put MacAdams in a cubby hole, they are too energetic and too edgy to do so. Fusing rock, jazz and jam with an overlay of powerful vocals, the band sets the crowd on fire. It's not a matter of a dry eye in the crowd, it's a case of idle feet - To hear them is to dance; to see them is to smile. This band will continue to grow and amaze - I suggest you catch them while you can get up close and personal." - Sandy Weinmann - KPFT 90.1

"MacAdams webcast from Sugarhill"

"It was a night I will never forget.

Jennifer Grassman and MacAdams, back-to-back at Sugarhill Recording studio with me, guest host for the special webcast, sitting in a Lazy Boy in the middle of the recording studio while MacAdams is rocking out and Jennifer Grassman is beautifully telling her little sister why men are no good.

Im going to tell you the story in a minute but I wanted to provide you with a link to the audiocast of the actual recording. Click HERE and it'll take you right to the webcast.

Ok, here's what happened. I got a call from my friend, Ross Welles who asked if I would help out on a certain project. Knowing all the cool stuff Ross has been doing with the GHCVB, I said sure.

Ross then proceeded to tell me about this very interesting project he was working on with Dan Workman, president and owner of Sugarhill Recording Studio over next to Produce Row off of Old Spanish Trail.

Wanting to help emerging Houston songwriters and players, Ross Welles and Dan Workman teamed with Troy Burwell of ExpressCom to open an exciting new outlet for Houston area musicians and performers.

And the Live from Sugarhill Studios webcast was born.

Ross wanted to use me as a guinea pig to test this new concept he wanted to try. His vision was to have a guest host from a different creative industry in Houston while sitting in a Lazy Boy recliner in the middle of the studio while the musicians played.

He said, We'll just have this microphone handy in case there's anything youd like to say during the performances. Sounded good to me.

First up was Jennifer Grassman.

Next on the agenda for the evening was a 20-minute performance by MacAdams. Now, I had never heard this band before so I started talking to them to find out more about them. I think I first started talking with the bass player, Jake.

Then, Perry walked in and started talking and after a while, you realize how dedicated these two guys are to their art. They both have regular jobs during the day then play whenever they can, much like every other group playing in Houston.

Robyn walked into the kitchen in the studio a couple of minutes before we went live to eat dinner, a hamburger from some fast food place. I didn't know who he was so I asked him if he worked at Sugarhill. He said no, that he was the lead singer and guitarist for MacAdams, one of the groups playing.

Robyn MacAdams.

He told me playing is his full-time gig, when he's not performing he's practicing 3 to 4 hours a day or teaching guitar to future rockers. Before I had time to talk any further, it was showtime so I went to my designated recliner in the studio.

It was phenomenal.

I was watching Robyn's fingers on the frets for most of the night and I swear to God his fingers never left his hands. He was quick, confident and incredibly fast! It was apparent he and his brother, Perry, had played together growing up as they were very tight in all their songs. After Robyn got done with a particularly frenetic stretch of guitar playing, Perry, pardon the pun, never missed a beat and conducted a little clinic of his own.

And I don't want to forget Jake. His bass was thumping in my right ear from a few feet away keeping my entire body captivated by this three piece group.

My opinion: They're small, dedicated, extremely talented and they produce an incredible sound. I can't wait until Mar 19th when these guys play The Big Top Lounge in Houston.

My advice: Watch Robyn's fingers!" - Lou Congelio - OnlyInHouston.org

"MacAdams has Solid Prog Energy"

"MacAdams has consistently pulled a solid crowd every time they perform. With a solid energy resembling our favourite progressive bands, this band can really play!" - David Buehrer - Showtime Live! Artist Development

Bio

MacAdams is a band created by brothers Robyn and Perry MacAdams. Jordan Wright entered the group in February of 2011, with Jon Gentry following soon after in March. A New Live was then recorded at Sugar Hill Studios in June of 2011 with some of the copyrighted music that Robyn had been working on.
Towards the end of 2011, Robyn's younger brother, Perry, started to show signs of detachment from the music that his older brother had written. That came along with a desire to work in real estate and play in cover bands. After the band met to discuss Perry's erratic behavior, Perry suffered what some in the band would refer to as an emotional breakdown. MacAdams is currently searching for a new drummer.
