- Punk rock energy, tempered with art. I spent some time with this disc. To me, the track "Elevate Me" is the shining moment on the cd and the song that truly caught my attention. The song shows the band's depth and potential, not only as a power pop/punk group, but also as artists and musicians. "Elephant Shoes" is worth the price of admission as well. From the hostile, frozen wastelands of Montreal that brought you The Dears, Simple Plan, Bran Van 3000 and Men Without Hats comes the Canadian Pop/Rock quartet known as Mackenzie 1st. With their technical drum chops, powerful bass lines, in your face guitar riffs and catchy vocals, you will not forget their infectious sound.
Mack 1, as theyre often referred to, has been developing a steady following via Internet marketing and playing live shows in the Quebec and Ontario Areas. They have a full-length album, which was recorded in 2004, and an EP that was recorded in the summer of 2006. The EP has been generating great reviews on the web and always draws a solid crowd. Their individually unique styles and intensity help set the mood for an exhilarating live show full of great music, creativity and mischief.
Mackenzie 1st has matured incredibly in the past 3 years. Their sound has a more artistic flair to it while remaining Pop/Rock.
