Bio

Formed back in early 2006, the Mad Dog Blues Band was thrown together to play a gig at Festival Place in Sherwood Park for their summer Patio Series.

The original 4 members of the band are Curtis Knecht on vocals, Dean McQuay on rhythm guitar, Tim Maskell on lead guitar and Scott McDonald on drums. After a tragic “footie” accident forced a change of bass players, Jim Koladich joined the band as bass player and sometime lead guitar player. The group's lineup was completed when Terry Thrasher, harmonica player extraordinaire, brought his 50+ years of harp experience to the band. The Mad Dog Blues Band now combines over 150 years of music experience into one unique sound.

The Mad Dog Blues Band recently recorded their demo CD, “Live” in the Basement, and is scheduled to hit the studio again in January of 2011.

The Mad Dog Blues Band is a regular performer with the Edmonton Blues Society and has been privileged to play on Canada Day (2008-2010) as part of the Works Festival in Churchill Square in Edmonton. The band was also part of the line up for the 1st Annual Beaumont Blues Festival (August 2008) and has played in several regional Beer & Wine Fests throughout Alberta. The Mad Dog Blues Band has spread their fiery brand of Alberta blues as far north as Eaglesham and as far south as the great metropolis of Red Deer.

The Mad Dog Blues Band spices its shows with original tunes and a light peppering of blues standards and southern rock classics that have been "Mad Dogged" (as we affectionately call our arrangements).

Influences include ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, BB King, Delbert McClinton, Jimmy Thackery.
