Bio

“Hip hop allows me to express my thoughts and emotions. For me it’s like a spiritual healing.” – Madface

Born: December 11 1973, Clarendon, Jamaica – Omar J. Cooper

As a Jamaican, reggae music played a dominant role in Madface’s musical upbringing. That is until the age of eight when he arrived in Canada, and was exposed to hip hop music. By the age of fifteen he was consumed with hip hop culture. Emceeing gave him the outlet he needed to express himself in a positive way. It was and still is a resource for him to vent his anger and frustrations. Madface can see that Canadian hip hop is on the verge of a revolution, and he intends to be a part of it.

In 2003 Madface combined his talents with the rap collective known as Da Network. Through the righteous wordplay first heard on their debut So Slow and the club banger Bored Games the five-man unit counter-cultured the under ground scene with a brand of authenticity and commercial flava that has yet to be matched. There is no question that the man who embodies the Da Networks coveted abstract essence was Madface. Now Stepping out of the shadow of Da Networks all too short lived success Madface looks to solidify his urban legend with his solo debut Street life.
