""14 Year Old Hawaiian Star" (Beauty Bliss Magazine)"

STORY & INTERVIEW BY: Candace Roadknight PHOTOS: Madison’s family, friends and fan images
A YOUTUBE SENSATION from Hawaii, playing weekly gigs in her hometown, is quickly achieving a widely expanding fan base with her recognizable surf-pop vibe, now heard on radio stations across Hawaii. In no time, this rising teen star will be living her dream, touring and playing her music while spreading Aloha around the world.
She’s just 14 years old and has the voice of a well-trained adult woman. Her clear, soft tone mixed with her flirtatious rasp gives her voice a slight Norah Jones and Colbie Callait sound, and yet she’s still so unique and stands on her own.
At such a young age she has already managed to brand herself, find her voice and
her own unique style while creating numerous covers of popular songs by Taylor Swift, Ingrid Michaelson, Coldplay, Katy Perry, and Maroon 5, just to name a few. She has also managed to produce her own original songs, like the popular “Those Boys” track dedicated to the band One Direction, which her own fans have already begun covering. She co-writes everything with her Grandmother,
Tonni Riley, who has been nicknamed “Grammager” by Madison. Tonni Riley is the owner of Paradise Found Records and is living the dream, being able to help her beautiful granddaughter make it to stardom. Being blessed to work so closely with family has given Madison a solid foundation in remaining humble as she moves forward throughout her music career.
Madison is a rare breed, making her way to fame with, what would seem, utopian star quality looks and sound, and is already radiating an impressive role model reputation. Sporting long, sun-kissed blonde hair, devastatingly blue eyes, and a trend-setting Hawaiian style, matched with a strikingly beautiful voice, admirable ukulele talent, and that “and then some” gift for wanting to spread love, happiness and kindness around the world.
There is always a sense of apprehension regarding a young star’s journey to fame, with all of the in-
fluences and exposure in the limelight, but after my interview with Madison I am now confident in her well- being while she climbs to the top. This 14 year old girl has a very old soul within her, and is backed with an incredible support team.

BEAUTYBLISS: What inspires the ukulele melodies and lyrics for your original songs? Madison: Inspirations for my songs come from living real life.

Hard times and good times are both good for learning and sharing. My songs aren’t always inspired just by me or my circumstances at the time. They’re inspired by looking at other people’s lives too.
My grandma and I have worked together on everything we’ve written so far. She helps me especially by identifying and taking worthwhile concepts and turning them into good, well-crafted lyrics and a story. Once we have the lyrics and the story written, then we work on the music side to complete the song. Melody and music seems to be what I am the strongest at; it comes really naturally to me. I love it when we write a new song together. We make a really good team in writing. We’ve had a really special bond our whole lives and I wouldn’t want it any other way. She teaches me and I teach her new things every day.
BEAUTYBLISS: One of BEAUTYBLISS Teams favourite originals of yours is “Don’t Wanna Grow Up”. It was heard for the first time on the radio clip you have on your website and everyone fell in love with it instantly. How did you come up with the lyrics to that particular song?
Madison: Aw, thanks. I’m thrilled you like it. My Grammager, who I co-write everything with, came up with the lyrics to that one and we wrote the melody and music together. I feel very grateful to have her helping me. We actually worked in collaboration with a very good friend and talented musician, Jeff Caldwell, to help tweak our melody even more on “Don - Beauty Bliss Magazine

""Shy Girl Madison: North Shore Musical Prodigy" (The Garden Island Newspaper)"

PRINCEVILLE — In the last few weeks, a young North Shore girl bursting with talent has made an impact with her touching lyrics and melodic voice.
“I’m the happiest when I’m sharing my music,” said Madison, a 13-year-old girl with a volcanic talent ready to erupt anytime.
She has been performing in island venues since last summer. Lately, she has had a gig twice a week in Princeville. But Madison’s popularity on Kaua‘i — and overseas — has jumped considerably after a couple of original video clips and videos of her performance were posted online.
Madison’s grandmother, Tonni Riley, began uploading Madison’s videos to YouTube in the last two months. She said Madison’s videos have had 33,000 hits. Besides showcasing the young musician’s talent, the videos, shot since last summer, show how she has been grown and matured in just one year.
“Shy Girl,” an original song played in a clip shot by Joel Guy and produced by Riley, has reached more than 7,731 hits since March 15, when it was originally uploaded to YouTube, according to Riley.
A second clip, from an original song called “Those Boys,” was uploaded May 4, and has already gotten more than 1,800 hits, Riley said.
To those close to Madison, her increased popularity in the last two months is no surprise.
Riley, a seasoned music producer and songwriter, has been investing all of her time and energy since last summer in her granddaughter’s career as a musician.
The collaboration between Madison and Riley has already resulted in more than a dozen authentic songs.
As a larger success waits just around the corner for Madison, who has performed with several established musicians on Kaua‘i, she says on her website she is “just a normal 13-year-old girl.”
Riley said that despite the sudden popularity, Madison is still a “real girl living a real life.” She still goes surfing with her 21-year-old uncle, who plays drums in Madison’s band.
Many in Kaua‘i’s musical community have come across Madison’s young talent, and talented musicians such as Jeff Caldwell have even taken active part in her career, helping to compose songs and to introduce her to crowds.
“Jeff (Caldwell) is like an uncle to Madison,” Riley said.
Every Wednesday and Saturday, Madison plays at Princeville Shopping Center’s food court, hypnotizing everyone form 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This Sunday she’ll be in KKCR’s Kaua‘i Live.
On June 2, Madison will headline a music-writing festival, playing from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shutter’s Lounge at Kaua‘i Beach Resort.

ABOUT Madison - Paradise Found

Aloha ~ My name is Madison and Im a singer-songwriter, full time working musician from the island of Kauai, Hawaii. My main instrument is my voice. I play ukulele and guitar also. My band is called MadisonParadise Found. Our genre is Indie Pop. Im backed up with male vocal harmonies, percussion, guitar, ukulele, bass & occasional saxophone. My voice has been compared to Colbie Caillat, Adele, Jewel, Norah Jones & Ellie Goulding but everyone says I have an instantly recognizable, unique tone and style really all my own, whether Im performing my originals or changing up covers.

ABOUT MY AGE: Guesses always come in that I'm between 17 & 25 years old when people see & hear me for the first time performing on stage. They are always shocked when they find out that Im just 15 years old. Im often told I must be an old soul. My band mates are all well-known talented musicians, older than me, that range in ages from their mid-20s to 40s. I strive to be a musical professional & my age is not an issue. I feel very blessed to hang around with & be influenced by my talented musician ohana that are strong in different generations & genres. I consider my growth a journey, & me, a work in progress (in a good way).

THIS YEAR'S PERFORMANCES: Ive been the lead female singer in 2 other well known bands, as well, for high profile events and weddings. Im working on my 2nd album and presently have four songs playing on island radio stations throughout Hawaii. Since I started performing professionally, full time 2 years ago, Ive been booked non-stop at weekly gigs (ie high profile venues such as The St Regis Hotel & the Sheraton). Ive been hired & performed over 200 times at paid gigs / events over this last year alone. Ive headlined at many large special events & festivals, including headlining for New Years Eve & Fourth of July events at the most high profile venue on the island, the St. Regis Hotel.

NORMAL SCHEDULE HIATUS / MAINLAND OPPORTUNITY TO TOUR WITH MOVIE PRE-LAUNCH / PREMIERE: Recently we had the opportunity to perform at The St. Regis for the Executive Producers of the movie: Soul Surfer (Bethany Hamilton's Story). After hearing my music, they have invited us to perform at several of their marketing / promotional Special Events on the Mainland for their newest movie 'Beyond Sight' (in theaters March 2014). As a result, we will be going on haitus from our regular island gig schedule between Nov. 1, 2013 & April 1, 2014. We will be staying on the Mainland during that time. (This will give us the ability to not only be exposed to new, large Mainland audiences, but also work on and finish my 2nd album!)

INTERNATIONAL PRESS: This last year Beauty Bliss Magazine, out of Canada, found me online and featured me in my own 6-page article, alongside separate feature articles on the Roxie Surf Camp & the band Walk Off The Earth. I felt very blessed and honored. Around the same time AndPop Magazine also chose & featured me as one of their Top 5 Worldwide Cover Favorites of Taylor Swifts new album Red. Both of those opportunities definitely brought me great attention and a growing international fan base, as well.

INVITATION TO 'THE VOICE': Living and performing here on the North Shore of Kauai I am exposed to a lot of music & television industry people that come and go. An executive producer of a top TV show heard me at one of my gigs & immediately contacted his friend who is the executive producer of 'The Voice' about me. As a result, I was contacted by producers from The Voice, inviting me to a special audition for their show. However, at this time, we declined their offer, as we want to grow my career the old fashioned way.

IN CONCLUSION: Madison-Paradise Found would love to make our debut on the Mainland at South by Southwest! If we are chosen, we promise to bring the Magic of Aloha from our beautiful island, along with lots of fans that will be thrilled to come and meet us there on the mainland.

Aloha and Mahalo Always ~ Madison
